Actually, it's $6.68mm. I wouldn't totally be against it, but Calgary seems to think that they're trading Brent Seabrook, not Jay Bouwmeester.
The sad thing is, both you and I have as much NHL playoff experience as he does. - Jsaquella
Calgary can keep him. I want no parts of Bouwmeester. Zero. |

And this is why the Nash signing doesn't have me as worried as most. |

Two years at 6.8M cap hit. Pass. That contract says enough for me to not even pursue it. - stveshdy
The best asset the Flyers can trade right now is cap space. Bouwmeester is grossly overpaid, but the options for an upgrade on defense are slim.
If it's a salary dump for Calgary, I'm in. The Flyers have the cap space right now and have Kimmo's current contract coming off the books the following season.
Trying to find a quality defenseman next summer is going to be equally difficult because of the dearth of quality players available.
You're done with JBouw by the summer of 2014, his salary cap space can then be used on hopefully much more attractive options. |

Problem is what Calgary wants for him. I see the reasoning behind adding him as an upgrade once Pronger is on LTIR and we get that relief but I refuse to give up young players for Bouwmeester. |

I hear where you're coming from but I just don't like him much as a player. The Flyers would be wise to stay away and look at the trade deadline for a defenseman. No need to go this route unless an injury occurs. |

There is a big differnece between Pronger and Crosby. No one really stood up against Pronger. I forget who it was in an interview, but he was talking about Pronger being the best/meanest player he'd ever played against. He said that Pronger would make him absolutely pay with a slash whenever he came over the blue line. He finally slashed him back, Pronger replied by saying if you ever do that to me again I'm going to shove your stick down your throat. Pronger never went around asking for all head shots to be removed from the game either. Briere on the other hand is a different story.
I agree that the media is blowing this out of proportion, but thats part of living in this day and age.
Bottom line, Giroux needs to realize he's going to be targeted. If he feels it isnt right to slash, identify the players that do and protect yourself - JFlyers00
I don't see how in this situation there is a big difference between Crosby and Pronger. And is Crosby wrong about asking head shots to be removed from the game? |

I might trade a 7th rounder for J-Bo at the deadline if need be. |

Then you would still have him and that Cap hit the following Season. I don't care if Calgary gives him away for the locker room attendant. I'll pass.
You simply don't pay a player an elite salary along with an elite Cap hit that isn't an elite player, because there aren't many other options. You wait and bide your time. |

Don't blame you. There's something wrong when you have 17 mill tied up between JBo, Wideman and Giordano, and Giordano is the least paid. |

fine by me as long as crosby gets his wrist broken next year. preferably right around the playoffs. - Don'tForgetTocchet
IMO, if Giroux wanted to whine about it, he would have complained to the refs after it happened and in interviews after the games where it happened. To me it seemed like he was probably asked about it (the scars) by this small town reporter who was on the golf course with him, and G was just being honest. He didn't make a judgement about Crosby in his statement about it or complain about it...and again, this is months later, so, I don't think it qualifies as whining.
As far as the incident itself, while I agree that most of us relish some rough play, even where it may cross over the line of what's considered "legal" as far as the rules of the game, there should be a line of what is considered competing and what's considered intent to injure. Ignoring the puck in favor of repeatedly hacking at, and ultimately breaking the wrist(s) of an opposing player with one's stick during faceoffs, in my view, crosses that line. |

He isn't wrong for asking them to be removed, he's wrong when he gets his elbows up. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wild elbows are more of a Malkin thing. |

No he is not. I think they should be removed too.
But I would first ban donkey punches, then head shots.

Actually, Lemieux's rep as a whiner was pretty significant and widespread. - Jsaquella
Really? I know as an owner but not as a player. I guess my memory is bad on this one. I will defer to your wisdom.

I'm talking worst case scenario like Kimmo's legs fall off, Mesz needs a walker on the ice, Grossmann gets a knee replacement, L. Schenn thinks he's still in Toronto, Lilja plays, Coburn is lost at sea on a fishing excursion and Gervais/Bourdon/Gus all decide to not pan out/play awful. |

Yes, that's more Crosby's modus. Well, that and waiting until the referees are breaking up the fight to throw punches. |

This one was the famous one since it was right after Crosby came back along with lobbying for a ban of all head shots.
