I will lose my mind if they make Doan the highest paid player on this team cap wise. And if the reports of some of the offers are true, that would indeed be the case.
Anything over 4.5 is an over payment. And to me even that is a ridiculous number for an over 35 deal.
Just say no, Homer!

Where are the sources? Is it from here and Many Yuck Mike?
If there were wiffs of truth, I am sure Ek would be on it.
Isn't Doan doing a tour this week, including Montreal? I would say if that is true, then any signings are not imminent.

If they make changes to term limits and limit signing bonuses in the new CBA. That could make an Offer Sheet a veritable waste of time.
I would keep Meszaros rather then trade him for Boyle. - MJL
I would expect the players' union to compromise on certain issues, but no way do I see the sweeping victory for ownership this time. If the owner's gain a greater slice of the pie, certainly it is reasonable to assume concessions on issues pertaining to free agency. Personally, I believe this opt out of the owners is merely a money grab, a chance to gain a greater slice of the overall pie, not necessarily to fix inherent issues between small and large market teams. Just my opinion.

I see the recent offer sheet to Shea Weber as being Exhibit A for the League and their proposal. And to only strengthen their resolve. That Offer Sheet was immensely bad for the League as a whole. And I see the League fighting to get some of that changed. The chance of a lockout got much stronger after that move.

I don't believe the owners are as unified this time. I know the TV contract signed with NBC guarantees a pay out even if not a season. However, let's face it, this league isn't the NFL, any regular season games lost is going to hurt the entire league. If the players roll back salaries, I would assume they would want concessions on issues such as signing bonuses, UFA age and years service, etc. Unlike football players, hockey players can play in other leagues throughout the world. The owners have almost as much to lose as the players this time around if significant time is missed. I don't see the owners able to get dominant victory in this negotiation with slice of pie (biggest negotiating point) and all other areas related to limiting player salaries. Fehr is going to be a very worthy adversary for Bettman.

Just for those who may have wanted the Flyers to draft Chet Pickard in 2008 (he was selected by Nashville 18th overall 1 pick ahead of Luca Sbisa) the goalie didn't develop in the Nashville system and has signed with Djurgården in Sweden.

Awesome. I can add him to my Swedish fantasy league team.

saw something on twitter the other day about Bob leaving the blue jackets to maybe go back overseas to play. Can anyone fill me in on that - broadbully16

#KHL's SKA acquired KHL rights to #CBJ goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. With his ELC expiring next season, SKA may make a push to get him back.

I think the League's initial proposal showed just how unified they are. It showed they mean business and are going to be wanting significant changes. Just getting a smaller piece of the pie isn't going to be enough for them. No doubt that Fehr and the players are going to want something and are going to draw a line somewhere. We'll see what it is. But it's a mistake to believe that the League and the Owners aren't united. Both sides are going to have to make concessions. But the threat of a lockout is very, very real.

I don't want Doan either at that cost. I'm just saying what I think will be realistic price for him on the open market. 2 years at 12M is probably the smallest offer he will receive.
As much as Flyers fans were saddened a week ago with Nashville matching the OS, I have to say I'm still pretty excited about this team and think the young guys will continue to grow and develop. I really think Brayden Schenn and Voracek will have really good years and Luke Schenn will be a much better player than he was in Toronto the past few seasons.
