Toronto is perfectly ready for an NHL team. They just need to move one there. - noffsin6
Yeah but no real players will ever want to play there as long as that loud mouth is steering the ship |

If he doesn't choose Phoenix, I can't see any way he doesn't come to Van. He can have a nice horse ranch in Langley right near the Abbotsford airport which is a small 45 minute flight to Kamloops which he's part owner of the WHL's Blazers. His wifes from B.C and he is. The only way he doesn't is if it's about money. - Boinker
If he's asking for 6.5-7M it would likely be a cap issue for Vancouver. They have lots of UFAs the next couple of years and signing Doan to a 4 year contract could be crippling (IMO). |

Agreed but at the same time this teams window is closing in the next two years. They need to try and win a cup and Doan is something they've needed for a long time. |

If you were going to contract cities that were not ready for NHL teams wouldn' t you need to get rid of the Leafs then? - VANTEL

Why would anyone in their right mind invest $20 million in the Phoenix Coyotes?
There simply is no credible business plan that can demonstrate that they will ever turn a profit, or increase in value. |

I hate to burst your bubble, but, if he does not stay in Phoenix, I see him signing with the Rangers! I wish he would stay out West, though. |

Not really. They can dump Luango and clear 5.3 million a year in cap space. The Sedins will get a raise and maybe Edler but Malholtra/Burrows/Raymond/etc wouldn't be that hard to replace if they ask for too much money. |

I simply cannot understand why everyone thinks he'll sign with the Rangers.
Not that they couldn't afford but there is a thing called "cap space" and I think
they'd have a real problem there |

I think the 3 major factors why people did not want to sign for Toronto
1) Richard Pettie (now gone)
2) Ron Wilson (now gone)
3) Brian Burke (soon to be gone, and replaced by Nonis) |

Move this team... it's a disgrace at this point... Quebec City would be the best option and would make all the teams int he league more financially viable since they would sell out every night like Winnipeg and generate pretty good revenu. - riceroni
A team will not be moved to Quebec City - they want expansion $$ from Quebec City (and likely another in Ontario) that will bring in a combined $1Billion.
If they move, and it will not happen this year, it will be to a US city - an established team will sell more tickets there than an expansion team. |

This is really baffling. So when the official announcement was made in May the Jamison group did not know that the asking price was 170 million? Did they have the necessary money at the time but they don't anymore? Did the NHL raise the asking price to 170 million since May? This is really confusing and I think nobody except for Jamison and Bettman really knows what is going on. |

Who said the Rangers have "cap space" problems??
If you do your research properly, you would find out that the Rangers have $13 mil space under the cap. |

More importantly, how does the NHL approve an owner that does not have the money to buy the franchise, especially in a market where losses are likely to be extensive?
You will just need a new owner in 2-3 years... |
