standard operating procedure. nothing to see here. - OrangeBlack27
Rube has gone from sign to trade mode.
He runs the Phillies like Ek does hockey analysis. |

Sorry, was researching Briere's CORGI stats as you spoke.
I crunched a lot of numbers, but it appears as if on a scale of 1 corgi to 10, he is at 8 corgis, which if you divide by 2 and do a backflip, comes out to 1,200 corgis, which means he would not be a bad choice for captain. - feelingkettle

[quote=OrangeBlack27]happens every year in august. david wright was on waivers last august.

Still pretty stupid of Rube to even think about trading Lee, even if nothing happens. Maybe Rube will try to get him back if he goes to another team just for fun. |

so what is the point then? - aightwebang17
can't say i really understand it 100% but pretty much all players are placed on waivers in august. just a way to gauge interest in a player, i suppose. |

it's basically so they know who they can trade, if need be. a player can only be traded in August freely after they've successfully cleared waivers.
once he clears, he can be dealt to any team. if you wait until Aug. 25th to see if they pass waivers, it leaves you with only like a day to try to make a deal. |

to make a trade after the deadline you have to go through the waiver process versus before the trade deadline. that's really it...all in the "pushing paper"
I don't see anyone making a trade for Lee... |

Still kind of weird to do this to a player who was traded away from here before. Even if nothing happens from it. |

most teams put their entire 25-man roster on trade waivers (only 7 players per day, tho). it's just a formality. |
