I'm a believer in Bryzgalov I just think he needs to play even better this year for this team to have a chance. When you compare the team from last season to this season they are equal or worse. They will need to play better as a team but the goalie may have to carry them this season also. - stveshdy
I'm with you but here's the conundrum, he played better through three games against NJ and the Flyers went 0-3. Alot of it has to do with the goalie but even the best of them take a whole team only so far. The team has to get on the same page as the guy next to them. |

The season didn't even start yet. Too early to declare that outcome. - stveshdy
When it comes to football its really not. Tell me when the last time a quarterback who could not protect the football or read a defense won a Superbowl? Granted Roethlisberger had some bad SB's but through the playoffs he was pretty reliable with a defense that the Eagles don't quite have. |

I'm pretty sure some of those shutouts translated to points we might not have earned. |

He was the best player on the ice for the Flyers in that series but he wasn't outstanding by any means either IMO. I like Bryzgalov but I have to agree with the GM who even stated that Bryzgalov didn't play as well as he thought he would. |

Through the whole season? No he didn't but there were stretches including the NJ series where he played pretty good and it didn't matter.
Edit: look all Im saying is they can't going into the season saying we'll just ride the goalie and hope for the best, that hasn't worked too well for NY either. |

To early to determine. Theres a chance he does protect the ball and the Eagles defense plays much better this season. Long season ahead. |

HE hasn't done it in 10 years and gets pretty huffy in interviews when asked if he'll play the position correctly, no its not too early its in fact too late to think otherwise. |

Bryzgalov has to be better this year. We all know your team plays a big part in that but that was my point earlier that this team is equal or worse than last seasons current roster. |

I would rather keep the picks... This years 2nd and 3rd could be high. |

They should cancel the season. Vick is completely a different player under the Eagles than when he played in Atlanta. His work ethic and knowledge of the game is improving. Maybe he won't protect the ball or read defenses as you suggested but that doesn't mean they dont have a chance of winning. They could rely more on defense and running game this season. You never know whats going to happen things change year to year.

It's pretty simple... Do the math.
Meszaros and Carle out, Gervais and Schenn in
Jagr and JVR out, Fedetenko and no one in...

No doubt about it, but even if he is unless the team steps up around him, I'm not getting overly hopeful. I've seen this team laydown and die two years in a row now for the second round of the playoffs and for the life of me, can't figure out the reason. |

That's a total myth. They won't cancel the season because the total outcome is far from decided and its all about making money. We know the Detroit lions and others will be pretty bad yet the season goes on. The league is more even than it was in the 90's but quarterbacks who play as recklessly as Vick won't win ya a superbowl. |

Then why sign Bryzgalov? He is suppose to help clean up the mistakes made by your team. We could of just stayed with a cheap version in net and just say lets hope the team around him get better. |

So they would've dropped 11-12 points in the standings (to the 7th or 8th seed) if not for the six shutouts? Is that what you're saying? |

It's really not looking good right now, what we can hope and hang our hats on is perhaps Schenn, Couturier, Simmonds, L.Schenn, Voracek, and Read all take another step. Hell I'd say Giroux is young enough that maybe he's got another rung on the ladder. |

No QB played as recklessly as Favre and he won a Super Bowl. They guy took more chances then any other QB I watched. He rarely protected the ball and made terrible decisions at times. So I'll still hold out hope. |

Not exactly but I'm saying there were games with Bryzgalov in there that they won, where had they the other two I'm not so sure. |
