Being that my time machine is broken, I will say it could be. Maybe they stink so bad this year they get Nathan Mackinnon, or Connot McDavid in to two years. one player can change the course of a franchise for a decade as Crosby and Ovechkin did. - psuhockey
So I suggest the franchise is doomed, and your best counter argument is that the team will suck so bad they will get high draft picks. Not much of a debate there champ. |

I've actually never been to Philly, or Pittsburgh for that matter. But neither have any bearing on the fact that Nashville is a wicked place. And the women, oh the women...
Philly/Pit home and home in the next 2 years is my plan though. - canadianpenfan
Penguins fan and you've never been to Pitt? I'm guessing you are a Penguins fan circa 2005 like the rest of the frauds. |

You have obviously never been to Nashville. Philadelphia is the sewer in comparison when you compare crime, poverty, pollution, and people's attitude. Throw in no state income tax, nightlife, and way more hot women and Nashville kills Philly.
The Preds problem is lack of corporate support and a poor business model. Corporate support can only be increased so far but it is improving a businesses migrate south. The poor business model is on management. Defensive hockey might make you competitive but offense sells. Drafting dmen and goalies high in the draft plus playing a defense first system does not sell the game. A lot of these struggling franchises play boring hockey. What new fans want to see 1-0 games. Look at what run and gun did for Washington's fan base. That market stunk until Ovechkin arrived. - psuhockey
Fans want to see teams win. And Washington taking off when Ovechkin arrived, had far more to do with having an exciting player then the system the team played. How is the Rangers fan base? |

It's not my fault, I was born sensitive. I hide behind sarcastic animated pixtures to compensate. The truth is, if I were any more meek I'd look like a Penguins phan. |

This is such an arrogant "Yankee-esque" attitude. Nashville should allow us to take their best player and we'll give them what we want to give them in return. How would losing two of your best three players (Weber/Suter) turn that franchise in the right direction ? To me, it tells your fanbase that it isn't worthwhile to support this team because any star players that you develop will soon be on the way out of town. - MadCap2008
Because they are not making money... simple as that. The team took a step backward with the loss of Suter.. but now with the mammoth contract to Weber, and the already big money going to Rinne, they are going to struggle to retain future FA's, bring in quality UFAs, and field a cup competitive team... If they had taken the 4 1st, they could have made a number of moves to help off set their losses. They already are one of the best drafting teams in the league.
I see it like this.. if they wanted to throw big money at weber and sign him long term... they would have done it. Philly forced their hand. They could have also just taken the 4 picks (i know it would have been tough for them and their fan base) but spun those into other big name players...
Either way its a tough situation for them. |

I agree to an extent.. As the NJ Devils are always my exception to that rule...
I think ppl just want to be entertained...
