Maybe. But that wouldn't stop the onslaught of HB postings.

I've never understood the love for JBo...obviously I'd take the advice of scouts and GM's long before I take my own but he's just never impressed me, or maybe it's that he's always been on a crappy team and doesn't shine like he would if he was in the playoffs. - Juice
shined on crappy team in fla. miscast on crappy team in calgary. |

You don't need to understand it. It may be more desperation than anything that would make sense to a rational person. |

I think it's more like a player who hasn't come close to meeting the potential that a player of his skill package has. Classic example of an underachiever. |

In theory, it should work like MJL described, however we know in practice that re-entry presents a clear disincentive for cap-conscious teams to bring players back up at all.
I'm betting that the NHLPA supported re-entry on the basis that it might introduce some liquidity to the waiver process, but I think they underestimated how willing some teams were to eat real dollars to save cap space. - Tomahawk
The Redden's and Souray's are the minority. I would think the NHLPA's feelings on that would be dicatated on what's best for the majority of it's players. |

They are desperate. Their current defensive group doesn't look very good. |

We owe Timonen the chance to win a cup... Which this could be the year but I don't see it unless we get another solid top 4 d man |

The six guys they have penciled in now look solid, but they have no depth. |

Hope for JBo somewhere? Can't argue that he hasn't live up to his potential, jeez the guy hasn't been to the playoffs yet. Barry Ashbee, hearda him?, who had marginal skills but grit out the wazoo played his best hockey at age 33. Ashbee got booed regularly the first couple of seasons with the Flyers but by '72 he started playing like a man possessed. Of course the team was better also. He did much to help Andre Dupont. By '73 he was the best defenseman on the team. A second team all-star. It makes me wonder, why a guy like JBo just can't start putting it together at age 29. Maybe he just lacks that fire. |

What do you think they give up for him? I can't see them trading away another 1st round pick (last year for Quincey). |

Not at that crazy price (rumored at 4 years 30M). |

Depending on the terms. I wouldn't be in favor of a long deal for him. He certainly would improve the team if he was added, no question about it. |

Only if you have the narrow minded view of just using a few UFA, and one RFA player to compute the "batting average" of a GM. |

Guess you missed the signings of Leighton, Grevais, and Tenko. His batting % is higher than 0. |
