the kimmo sitch is important. they may or may not know if this is his final year or not. if they know for sure that he's done after this season, then I'd really try to make the JBouw thing happen.
if he wants to come back and the trade went through, they'd have to get creative again. - bradleyc4

Did I make you type the words "prospect of struggling"? Am I so influential in your life that it oozes into your keyboard?
I yell through this wonderful forum words of optimism, and your first intention is take another cheap shot at me?
I bring up hockey issues, repeatedly, and unless I put up a pretty g-y GIF, you throw insults. So be it.

I don't know the more I think about it, this mix of Dmen only lacks another puck mover type. I think between Coburn, Grossman and Schenn you have enough bonecrushers, JBo might not be the end of the world here. If he's out there springing Giroux for 2 or three odd rushes a game I guess I could deal with his lopsided caphit. |

There is way too much pessisim, and quite frankly, drama here.
Is this team any different than the one that beat the Pens? Not really, except we have Schenn.
Players get hurt and other players step up all the time. Look at the Pens record without Crosby.
I humbly suggest that you (collectively as a group) flip things and tell me what teams have more talent. Rangers? Yes, we all know.
Carolina? TB? Pens? Devils? Bruins?
What other teams scare you?
Personally, I believe that we are in that 3-5 spot in terms of talent in the Easter Conference. Come playoff time, who knows what will happen. Trades. Mez back. I may make an appearance in the lineup.
A number of wonderful things could happen. Don't be so negative. Have faith.
I do.

JBouw hasn't worked in Calgary and will not live up to the hype. But I still feel like he can be a nice offensive weapon if placed on this squad.
I do agree, because of his contract, that I wouldn't give up more than a middling "prospect" for him. But I would be willing to absorb the contract because it they can afford to take it on this year with the way things have worked out, and they can likely afford the following season if Kimmo walks away. - bradleyc4
I totally agree, I would offer a 4th in 2013(they have 2), and a 2nd in 2014 and if thats not enough for Feaster then oh well... |

I'll be civil if you'll be civil. J-Bo would not be the end of the world. As Bill mentioned, the issue is can we get him for nothing, and would he play here?
Not sure of Calgary's salary cap situation, but if they needed to dump him I would take him. We're not looking for a long term solution, and he won't be asked to replace Pronger. He'll be expected to replace Mez and Carle. Not impossible.
If he only has 2 years left (not sure), this would not be a bad option. As everyone knows, not a great option, but not a bad one either. |

Would it really be so terrible to start the season with the following pairs?
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Bourdon
Grossmann-Gustafsson/Gervais
and late in tight games you could just go with Timonen-Schenn and put Coburn with Grossmann
I don't see the need to run out and sign a journeyman or make a trade giving up assets for an average and/or aging defenseman. Let all the young players continue to develop, go into the season with real cap space and make a deal at the deadline to shore up weaknesses.
Lets be honest, many young players will struggle in their second year. No matter what moves they make, the Flyers are probably not a cup contender this season. Keep the kids together with the goal of building a real contender for the 13-14 season. |

and if kimmo wants to play one more year? or they are trying to get someone else? i don't want him at that price. - Don'tForgetTocchet
I am really warming up to the idea of another year (beyond this one) of Kimmo.
Depends I guess a lot on his health, but he is still really solid. Especially since he'd likely sign for a smaller cap hit.
Yesterday's blog responses made me physically sick.
Seriously Kaberle, Gonchar, Cam Barker, Eminger, 2Real ...
Yuck
Just kidding 2Real, you I love, but the rest of those guys they better stay far away from. |

i know jbo's cap hit is crazy but in calgary he is used as a shutdown d man which he is not hes an ofd i think he would be a nice fit in our system and a change of location could help him out a it but i would not overpay for him just because his cap hit is crazy but i think jbo would thrive in out system imo |

Glad to hear the reasonable discussion on JBo. He certainly has a lot of detractors but might be a good fit here. At least he's not half dead yet. |

yes, I love Bundy. I think he's great on the radio and has some terrific stories to tell.
but relying on his judgment on how CBA talks will fare won't get you very far. |

not much argument here. its pretty much my thoughts on the issue. If it weren't for the massive caphit I'd have no problem but then again he might not be available either without that caphit. |

I happen to agree with Bundy, the owners will get what they want. A rollback in salaries and a larger % of revenue. It wont be the original proposal they just put forth, that was just to make what they really want look reasonable by comparison.

while we're on the topic, the only thing more infuriating than reading allan walsh's tweets is seeing his BS retweeted after you unfollow him.
it is really pathetic how much panaccio and brooks eat right out of the players' and agents' hands with this stuff. either they're both on the payroll, or they're completely clueless that all they are are pawns for posturing and framing. |

I agree. He may be used as a shutdown D, but he's not particularly good in that role. Unfortunately, when he plays that way, he also loses much of the offensive game he showed in Florida, too. |
