No, Jordan Schultz was a relatively high draft pick that refused to sign for two years and became a free agent, in doing so, he opted for early UFA where his salary was set and delayed later UFA status, when he'd be due for a bigger payday
- Jsaquella

isn't that the same thing? he didn't want his current job so he worked for a new one

I would be pissed if I was only getting paid 60,000. Now if I was making 90+M and it got cut to 70+M I could live with it.

The Phillies.

So the Phillies with Lee, Halladay, and Hamels are the furthest away from winning? I can't agree with you there.

They have NO bullpen. The lineup is average at best. Halladay and Lee on downside of their careers.

I actually think the Eagles are the furthest away, and then the Sixers.

i wouldn't sign a contract with any company to make what i'm making right now but if i was making 10s of millions it's not a big issue since you're essentially set for life

The difference is, you don't have an ability that people will pay you tens of millions of dollars to perform. The off shoot of NHL players making that much is that they have shorter earning cycles, and face long term physical risks that the average person doesn't.

Another huge difference is that people aren't plunking down $100 a seat to watch you type code. You keep saying without the owners, the players wouldn't have a job. The trouble is, without the players the owners wouldn't have the massive revenue that they make.

He had marketable value, but he was going to get $925K per year no matter where he signed. EL deals have a set figure. He still had to accept not getting a paycheck for two years and risk getting hurt and not getting a good offer, and now, despite signing a 2 year contract, he's owned by Edmonton for 7 years.

That's easy to say when the likelihood of you making $90mm or $70mm is remote.

Especially if you signed the contract, was guaranteed the cash, and then had to accept losing 24% of the money, while not seeing the term shortened.

that's the gamble of signing a massive contract when the CBA is expired sometimes you roll the dice and lose

Can't find a guy in Delhi that can stickhandle like Claude Giroux

I just think 70M or 90M I can still be set for life. If I'm making 80,000 and its cut down to 60,000 thats a big hit. That would piss me off.

I hear what your saying though.

How about a guy who signed his deal 3 years ago and has 3 years to go?

According to the terms of the contract, he's guaranteed every penny of that money.

no but you can find him on the Rangers

i'll see my proportion of it through my stock options. sure there are people that can code just as good if not better but there is more employers than employees out here so they fight for the good talent

That's not the way athletes think. They have lifestyles that the average schlub can only dream about. They look at it like they are being screwed out of millions, that means less cars, houses, etc... it's all relative.
