The question is, Who is the real Bryz?
Is he the goalie we have seen for most of his career?
Is he the goalie we saw in the first half of his first season in a new league playing behind a new team with 9 rookies as regulars?
Tough question i know.

According to cap geek, Bourdon's AHL salary this season would be 105,000 and next year 625,000.00 - nastyflyergirl
Yep, Capgeek has it as a 2 way deal. |

Ah, so it's a two-way this season (although he's unlikely be waived) and a one-way in the second season. I'll fix the blog accordingly.

Well, I only know as much about his pre-Flyers career as the numbers say. So maybe I'm being pessimistic here, but I don't think it's unfair to say he has to make significant improvements on last season. The Flyers are going to need it.
The team in front of him has lost a couple of veteran fixtures in Carle and Jagr, as well as Meszaros for an extended stretch. Not to say the roster has completely fallen apart, but the defensive cavalry aren't exactly charging in to his aid to start next season.
I hope you're right, that the Vezina nominee performance is the norm and he returns to it this season. He's still got a lot of young players in front of him. |

But to speculate it seems as though the contract is set up so Bourdon would not have to clear recall waivers this Season if he is indeed waived, cleared, and demoted to the AHL. |

could kubina have recovered enough from his injuries to be a one year stop gap?

We'll see what their style of play looks like...no way to tell now. But in my (always) humble opinion, the potential is there for Bryz and the D to perform very well.
With this team, it may be fair to say that you can't have it both ways. You can't have that high offensive production without exposing the D. If they decide to clog the neutral zone and defensive end, you may lose some scoring but have Bryz look like an all star. If we base the team's style and skills on history, then Bryz will be up and down. If changes are made, then things may be different. |

No question Meszaros injury, and (like it or not) Carle's departure have taken what was a pretty solid looking, if not spectacular defensive unit and made it less so. Unless a move is made, the 5/6 d-men are not going to be the same level of experienced NHL defensemen we have seen in that role for recent seasons. That's a little scary, but it might not be the end of the world....
I say let the kids play. At least until the deadline. - BringBack25
I agree with your reasoning. Gus, Gervais, Manning & MAB have the potential to become 2nd paring D-men, but they won't if we never give them the minutes to do so. If a good deal can't be worked out with a Vet before the start of the season, this is not a bad thing.
Also understand the D we have left are all the Defensive type guys. Coburn, Grossman, Schenn and of course Kimmo is awesome at everything. Letting them shoulder the crease clearing aspects of the game could pay dividends teaching the kids and letting them take chances a bit.
