he still won a world series, was a big factor in why they did, and yet he still gets booed. Point is once you've been selected for scapegoating, it matters not what you do hereafter in philadelphia. - JoeRussomanno

I'm thankful that Holmgren hopefully isn't taking that advice. |

Cool. Maybe Meszaros will be back by then. - PLindbergh31
I'm thinking that his career is over, and we should all follow the Phantoms this year, and just forget about the Flyers! |

Waiver-eligible players on minor-league assignments are subject to reentry waivers if they are recalled and their minor-league salary is greater than $105,000 in 2009-10 and beyond.
I doubt that he would clear waivers also. But it does give the Flyers an option.
And I'll also add that that is under the current CBA. Who knows if that will change. - MJL
So... If he is claimed. The Flyers are responsible for a portion of his salary.... Is that portion based on the $612,500 NHL or $105,000 AHL salary - I assume the NHL salary??? |

If he is claimed on Waivers the Flyers are not responsible for any of his salary. |

Homer's fond of targeting young players with unrealized upside that could benefit from a change in scenery, and for giving former 1st-round picks a second chance. I'd expect him to target guys like Nik Hjalmarsson, Kris Russell, Bobby Sanguinetti, Ty Wishart over the bigger/more expensive names that have been bandied about. - Tomahawk

Maybe not own salary - but do they have a cap hit? What I'm thinking about is the Nodl situation a few seasons ago. Didn't the Canes pick him up via claiming him from Waivers and we have a cap hit (not sure if we owed salary to him or not). When does that come into play? |

They would not be responsible for any of his Cap hit either. That comes into play on recall waivers. |

He was playing good for the first month and a half then got injured. I don't even know what the heck is wrong with him injury-wise at this point - JoeRussomanno
I heard (can't recall exactly where - does anyone else remember?) that Kubina and Lavy did not see eye to eye on how he was used at the end of the season and during the playoffs, and that Kubina was upset about it. If true, that may have as much or more to do with his not being considered an option than his recovery progress. |
