Clouts you are being absolutely ridiculous!

Not one of those "other guys" that you mention they could go after is an upgrade on what we have. Gormley? Erixon? comon man those guys would be behind Schultz, Klefbom and probably Fedun.

I'm not sure Jbo was the answer either. Why dont you just quit? The garbage you are spouting is getting old...

But fans of other teams think they'll all want 7.5 mill and screw us over!

I dont know if I would be willing to commit 7+ mill to Hall just yet. Let him put together a few seasons of 80+ games a year. He has put up good numbers his first 2 seasons but the 61 and 65GP for both is a concern. I think he should command a 4.5-5 per for 3 seasons to see if he can stay healthy.

I didn't have much of a problem agreeing with your blog up until you tried to say Skinner is one dimensional and then used that downplaying of his skill to suggest that Hall and Eberle will be getting 7/year. That's hilarious comedy, if you've finally made the full-time move over to that sort of blogging... And just when I thought I was done laughing, you used your Oilers bias (and this is coming from a knowledgeable leafs fan, who obviously has nothing better to discuss) to crap all over Flames' GM Feaster. Well, it may seem like a natural reaction to crap on Calgary before you have to attempt to polish your own, but Jay hasn't made any bad signings. His worst is arguably Babchuk at 2.5 for 2 years, maybe 500k too much, but he had just become a UFA and sometimes you gotta pay a little extra for someone in his position where he had offensive potential in a big frame, and only for 2 years so it's really not the biggest ball-and-chain ever. AT and Glencross deserve the contracts they received, and after that everything is nickels and dimes.

Jay-Bo to the Oil was never going to happen, Clouts you do realize that Calgary and Edmonton don't trade with one another, aside from Staios a couple years back there have been how many deals between the Flames and Oil???? Oh right, it wouldn't be Clouts if you didn't female dog about something and you wouldn't have a blog to write if you weren't ragging on Tambellini. This blog was awesome up until the point where you said you weren't gonna talk about how stupid the Flames were. Shoulda kept going with that.

It won't cost 7 million for Hall, Clouts is off his meds. Honestly I could see twin deals for Hall and Ebs ( 6 years, 5.5 to 5.75).

That sounds about right. The Bruins are in a similar situation with Seguin. His first year he only put up 11-11-22, but that was due to the fact he played a minimal role and was protected by the coaching staff his first year. Last year he had somewhat of a breakout season showing his talent. I think the Skinner deal sounds about right for both Hall and Seguin, maybe a little bit more because they both have more raw talent than Skinner.

Agreed. 7 million per year is entering Doan territory.

"Entering Doan Territory" sounds like the title to a really awesome porn, or a really, really bad Steven Segal movie.

Didn't Rutherford also give the incredibly overrated Jordan Staal 10 years, $60mil? Moronic

umm, I am not sure how much you watched the Pens play over the past few years, but to say that Jordan Staal is increadibly over rated is just crazy. He may not be worth all of the 6 million per, but he is young, he can score goals, he can center a number 1 line, he is a defensive stud, a PK specialist.

He scored 50 points in 62 games last season (25 goals) while playing more premium minutes. In a full season, playing 1st line minutes I can easily see him scoring 30+ goals

He is basically the kind of center that edmonton needs.

Gormley would either be our best or second best d-prospect right now. Tim Erixon is probably right there with Klefbom in terms of being a good #3 down the line

Wow... I can feel the pent up frustration and anger there clouts! Oilers better off holding their cards for one more season and going from there. Couple of things wrong with the article though. 6 years 60 for staal was a good signing. If anything, Staal is underrated. Your still just ouching from the constant defeats you had in your blogs on the number one for staal debates. second, blogs keep saying how eberle, hall etc are untouchable, then you try to undervalue them by lowballing their contracts. both players are worth more than 5.5. pick and choose, are they elite players or sub-elite. if they are elite, gonna have to pay them like it. certainly no less than 6.5 each... if they give edm a hometown discount

they won't sign for more than 6.3 and no less than 5.5. difference is that Staal is in his third contract whereas hall and ebs are going into their second, look to tavares, skinner and toews and kane for comparable

Both of those players, if the oilers don's make competitive offers for, are great options for offer sheets. those could/would be upwards of 7 mil. (2 1sts, 2nd, 3rd)

Your kidding right?

Gormley will be good, but not ahead of Klefbom and Schultz.

And Erixon is never going to be more than a 5-6 guy which we have plenty of?

new CBA might change that... or eliminate offer sheets all together.

Either way, how many offer sheets get thrown around each year?

0.5?

I am gonna have to look him up on IMDB cause aside from the Expendables 2, (in theaters August 17th) I haven't heard of anything he has done recently. Oh how far he has fallen from the days of Bloodsport and Universal Soldier
