What about when they beat that same ottawa club in 5 games when that same Ottawa club racked up double digit goals on us during the regular season?
- ImThatGuy

they had players like grier, dumont and mckee who added a ton of hard work and grit to that team in a looser nhl

the "ferrari" team of 2006/07 was awesome, but only worked for that regular season

Foligno is gonna be so f'n good for this team... I LOVE this kid's potential..

If he stays healthy like his history has shown he can..

Foligno's stats:
20 goals
30 assists
200+ hits
80 PIMs (kid with knock you the f#ck out)

- JVince117

Unreasonable expectations for hits. Who was the last Sabre who had more than 100 hits? Not sure if that is becasue of Lindy's system or what but it just doesn't happen around here.

Edit: it should have been 200 hits not 100

had to re-read (reereed, for homie)...

can you really see ruff breaking up that foligno/ennis/stafford line?

- b0s0o1

Yes definitely.

a) it's a new season
b) it's ruff
c) they played together for under 20 games, it's not like we're talking about the French Connection here
d) sorry guys, but Foligno may regress scoring-wise. He's played 14 NHL games.
e) ott brings a lot of what Foligno brings but with more experience.

Know that'll be an unpopular opinion but I'm not going to get too excited about Foligno until he's shown some consistency over a much longer body of work. He overacheived on his offensive expectations last year, which is awesome. I hope he keeps it up, but I don't buy high, either.

I dont see adam either and think this line relaly takes away from pommer. In my mind I always have pommer shooting and Vanek crashing the net.
- hubie

If adam plays, he'll center ott and gerbe i'd think. ott takes the face, switches to the wing and we'd be all set.

Just a note. The tone on these boards in the past couple months has gotten pretty nasty. Yesterday, I took out someone on this thread for a long time because he was abusing another poster. This was the most blatant example of a transgression of rule 6.

6. Respect your fellow HockeyBuzzers
No name calling. And you’re not being clever if you say “any moron knows” or “only an idiot doesn’t understand.” You’re being disrespectful. Talk more about hockey and less about each other. Although playful banter is allowed, that does not mean anything goes, if the banter breaks any part of the code of conduct, it isn’t playful and it is not acceptable. When “Player X stinks" turns into "You stink" you've crossed the line. And yes, the Moderators decide where the line is.

No racial slurs or otherwise derogatory comments based on the target's assumed race, religion, gender, country, sexual orientation, or language. This goes not only for posters and bloggers but for players, management, officials, their families, and others in the public eye. This is a hockey forum for hockey discussion, take hate speech elsewhere.

Do not threaten or intimidate others—posters or bloggers. Just don't do it. If you threaten another member, expect a long, long ban.

It is not against the rules for someone to disagree with you
.

Note the "moderators decide where the line is" bit. In the past I've set the line pretty far in front of what others might have done. This note is to say I'm now drawing that line back until people get more used to treating one another with more respect. I'm going to post this as a warning in the next few Doan blogs and I will be handing out bans to people who can't keep this straight.

And this applies to Garth comments too. If you disagree with him, fine. If you want to criticize his blogs, that's your right as the consumers of this site. If you name call and disrespect him, thatll be your last post for the day.

Sorry, and thanks,
Your friendly neighborhood moderator.

If you're going to act like a brat, I'll call you one, sorry. I'm asking for more civility, you fire back with a lame bratty comment, and instead of banning you (which would be more to the COC) I make fun of you a bit. Happy to change my mind if you'd prefer, since you literally offer 0 value to this site.

Your call.

Also using International hockey as a argument on the physical side of hockey where fighting is not allowed and the hitting is looked at a lot stricter then the NHL is not a good one.

I do think that being physical can help, but a team with a high powered offense is a great weapon to counter act that.

If a team scores 4-5 goals a game, then opponents will have to be playing catch up and getting away from the physical game to keep pace to win.

It's an old, lame cliche but. "Hit them where it hurts most, the score board"

The Red Wings agree. They've always had guys that can dish it out, but they primarily kill you with speed and puck possession.

They also have like 1/2 of Europe playing for them.
