I sorta agree. But I tried selling live cattle on the Pens board, and still got banned. What gives? I guess Canadianpenfan thought this was ebay. - Daman
Was the prospective buyer from outside Pennsylvania? Interstate commerce can be tricky |

Over the same time period, the Detroit Red Wings have drafted 41 defensemen. 10 of them have played any games in the NHL.
Detroit also took twice as many defensemen in round one as compared to the Flyers over that time.
You should try paxil. - Jsaquella
If you exclude the 4 Cups the Wings have won since 95, and take away the fact they drafted some Swedish D-man with the 53rd pick a few years prior, then yeah sure...
Billy Tibbetts is a POS. You should work on an angle defending him. |

Perhaps that was the nature of the ban. I may have violated hockeybuzz rules, as well as state laws.
My understanding is most mods are trained in etiquette and interstate commerce.
I leaned my lesson and stopped putting 1000's of tiny little ads here.

so they hit on Lidstrom, but overall have done worse than the Flyers at drafting d-men in terms of the % that have contributed at the NHL level as stated |

So they hit on the best D-man in the last quarter century in the draft no big deal right? A player that just happened to be the # 1 reason why that franchise has been the gold standard in the NHL the last 15-20 years and why they have won 4 Stanley Cups.
Flyers landed Therien the very next year. That makes all things equal. |

of course its a big deal, but you are changing topics
pretty sure you said that because 24 of the 37 dmen they drafted since 1995 never made the nhl that there should be Puddles at the feet of everyone involved from incompetence running down their legs
when it was pointed out that this percentage isnt as low as that of the Wings, you move the conversation to focus on the one big hit they've had.
if you want to say Lidstrom is better than any dman the Flyers have drafted since 95 id obv agree. but that has nothing to do with your original statement about incompetence puddles. |

Comparing the Flyers to the Red Wings is pretty nonsensical imo. If the Flyers had won 4 Cups since 95, and drafted a 7 time Norris winner a few years prior, would anyone give a rats ass that they have struggled drafting D-men the last 15 years? |

but that's the point. the Wings are the gold standard. so comparing a team with the Wings in terms of one specific realm of team management, it can put things in perspective. So again, while you saw the Flyers % of drafted Dmen contributing in the NHL as incompetent.. when compared to the Wings it becomes clear that those numbers are actually not that bad or at least probably closer to the league average. |

In 2000 the Wings drafted Nik Kronwall. This entire argument comparing the Flyers to the Red Wings is preposterous. |

and i think the stat itself is kind of lame actually
obviously a team that doesnt spend in free agency or does not field a competitive team will have more of their drafted dmen taking up roster spots.. whereas some of those same players would likely not crack the rosters of competitive teams that spend. |

When I have time during the week. I will do some research. If the biggest contribution to the Flyers blueline from 95 to present via the draft is Joni Pitkanen, I'm fairly confident I can find better players from every other franchise in the NHL drafted during that time frame. |

love how the prospect of finding ways to deem the flyers incompetent gets you so motivated

Spector's:
KUKLA’S KORNER: Cited a report from Sweden claiming Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andreas Lilja underwent hip surgery and could be sidelined for four months.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: In the immortal words of Scooby-Doo: “Ruh-roh”. That would be another huge blow to a Flyers blueline which already lost Andrej Mezsaros to injury, isn’t expecting Chris Pronger to return from a concussion injury, and lost Matt Carle to free agency. GM Paul Holmgren suggested he’d be comfortable waiting for training camp to evaluate his blueline before making any moves to bolster his defense. This, however, could put more pressure upon him to make a move. |

I don't need to defend Tibbetts. He is a piece of poop.
I'm just capable of seeing the good and bad, rather than crying about the bad nonstop like some sort of unstable prom queen who got pink flowers instead of red.

Lilja was expected to be a 6th or 7th defenseman anyhow, this isn't exactly a major loss. If anything it gives Bourdon and Gustafsson more opportunity. |

Understand that.... but at this point with long term injuries.... it won't be just mab and Gus getting pt. One more minor injury and lauridsen and manning will be getting opportunity. pretty thin d corp. |

There's a slew of free agents that are available that can fill the 6th/7th roles. I expect part of the reason that a lot of depth FA's are still out there is the unresolved CBA.
