That sounds very similar to Tavares.......skating is everything in this game. - kindlyrick
He's around the same size Tavares was in his draft year. Whether his first year in the league is this year or next, there's a good chance he'll get pushed around and won't produce an absurd amount...just like Tavares did. Obviously the two differ in terms of skill level, but are comparable in terms of size/skating ability when coming into the NHL.

Watched the Canada vs Russia series, Nail was not the best player on the Russians team, by far.. Strom looks like he may be OK for the Isles.. - bixll
A lot of what I read was that guys like Nail, that won't be around for the WJC's this year, didn't impress because they didn't get a ton of playing time. Coaches wanted to use the time for kids that were going to be playing in Ufa this year.
I would agree or disagree but I've never seen MacKinnon play a minute in my life. - eichiefs9
Same size and shape as Sid. But, I think he is a little faster. Kid, will be a superstar..I have seen him play at least 12 times..Very Fast, smart, great vision and has a nice shot.
at Shanuk St. Mary's he had something like 185 points playing 37 games in a Jr. A league..at 15 yrs old.

He was on the ice. He just was not doing anything...not impressed..I have seen him play 5 times..
The Canadian boys as a group was solid, they had some lapses, but if not for a couple of d let downs and some brutal tending, it would have been a sweep.
Nail Failed,, badly.. was not the 10th best player on the ice for the russians.
Canada out shot them every game, and had a territorial advantage..

Which veterans are you referring to??? Of those players you're about to google and list......how many played with him. How many of those veterans dropped the gloves after he was getting elbowed in his dome piece after the whistle? Which veterans were relevant at the NHL level?
Heck they still dont have a liney that will standup for him.. - kindlyrick
the ones you were referring to...."2009 Tavares (Doug Weight, Andy Sutton, Brendan Witt)"

Agreed. I just think it makes sense to protect your assets...both physically and with real veteran talent to provide examples and help them along. As we've seen over the past few years, not every young player is Tavares or Hamonic, who can rise above in spite of having little-to-no help.
Luckily, the next wave of youngsters, say, if Strome is on the Isles this year, will at least have Tavares, Moulson and Hamonic out there, who have talent and also some experience now.
And regarding Strome, I don't think we can really say "keep him here" or "send him back" until we get a look at him in camp. - UIF
correct....youre talking to a guy that absolutely loves the physical game of hockey and was calling for guys like haley ALL year last year....and other fighter type players for years
but we all agree that if you were the GM there was no way JT was playing anywhere but the island right??

Yeah, no way he was going back to juniors again, regardless of whether he was picked by the Isles, TB or Colorado that year.
"One of the more interesting aspects of the new CBA proposal by the NHLPA is the proposed ability to "trade cap space" of up to $4M. What does that mean? Well, if accepted this would give teams at the Cap a way to get extra Cap space and teams below the floor a way to get to the floor by selling Cap space. "

To much fighting on here. All I can say is this, seriously I dont care about the kids that we have right now all I care about is the team on the NHL ice. That should be the main concern here as that is the team we are going to be watching this year
