To much fighting on here. All I can say is this, seriously I dont care about the kids that we have right now all I care about is the team on the NHL ice. That should be the main concern here as that is the team we are going to be watching this year
- kasperrko

Not really... it should be the entire organization we are worried about.

But that is the problem with some... don't look @ the big picture!!!

I didn't see it anywhere else the day it came up in here, but a day or so later there was news on it from legitimate sources.

I don't think that's the problem with most of the "debbie downers". Most if not all of us believe that we are better off prospect wise then we have been in years. Most disagree on how better off we are regarding just how good these prospects are. I for one believe most of you guys over value these kids. I think Snow's drafting though not horrible is not as incredible as some of you proclaim and the fact that Snow/Wang do little to nothing to help this team or further these prospects development is disheartening. Can't imagine how it must feel for a player coming to this team let alone being drafted by it? I think it's very short sighted of you to simplify peoples opinions by saying people don't "look at the big picture". I certainly do. Doesn't matter how many prospects we have if they are not being developed properly or being given any help OR they have a coach like Capuano. The list goes on...

What's with Islander draftees and their shoulders? Hopefully it's nothing and they aren't down playing a "sting to the shoulder".

like a swarm of (frank)ing bees...it never ends...not every first round pick will be crosby at age 19...poop toews and parise played two years of college...some people's minds are warped that every prospect we have will become an all-star and the other side believes that every one we have will suck balls...

In terms of overvaluing our prospects I totally agree. Almost everyone does. Here's a comparison (not "same type of game", but strictly point-wise) that I'm sure some people will get mad at. If Ryan Strome turns out to be a Derek Roy type of point producer I won't be the least bit upset. (With the exception of last season) Other than last year he's scored at a good clip for a second line center. If you take away his rookie season and his crappy year last year, he's scored at a .87ppg pace. That is perfectly fine for a 2nd line center. Of course I want better but that isn't bad at all for a 2nd liner. Anyone that thinks that Strome is going to scored 85+ points/year consistently is crazy. He should be a really nice 2C compliment to JT, but he's not going to be a perennial all star. All of this is speaking strictly to his potential, also. I fully realize that just because he has the potential, doesn't mean he'll reach it.

Frankly, I would have rather reversed the way we drafted in the first round the last two years and taken Dougie Hamilton and Mikhail Grigorenko over Strome and Reinhart.

I wouldn't have minded either over who we wound up drafting. I was a little shocked by the selection of Strome. This draft to me was more of a crap shoot than usual but I would have chosen Grigs over Reinhart. With that said I'm not disgusted by either choice. I really wanted Hamilton at the time, to me he was exactly what we needed. If Strome turned out to be a legit second line center how could anyone be disappointed?

I personally never said he wasnt that good........i said i wasnt impressed with his goal in OT. I also questioned his size...........he's clearly a great player, but will it translate to the NHL level?

I really don't think there is much of a disparity between Hamilton and reinhart at this point. Strome works hard and wants to be great. He'll be outstanding player for us. Let these kids at least get to 23-25 yrs old before u think they are busts. If josh bailey had been in jr and bridge and making his debut this year, you all would have different view.

This is baileys year. Watch.

"One of the more interesting aspects of the new CBA proposal by the NHLPA is the proposed ability to "trade cap space" of up to $4M. What does that mean? Well, if accepted this would give teams at the Cap a way to get extra Cap space and teams below the floor a way to get to the floor by selling Cap space. "

I bet the Islanders would like this...

Who cares? It's a ridiculous idea. Owners who won't spend to the floor shouldn't be rewarded for that, and owners who can't help but throw insane money around and skew the market shouldn't be able to do it more easily than the already gaping loopholes allow. Why even have a cap if it's simply a wink and nod? Just do away with it in that case and go back to the way things were pre-lockout, since that's essentially what this does in a much more convoluted manner.
