Still not half as bad as East NY or some parts of Brooklyn. Now Wyndanch on the other hand... Drove through there a month ago for the first time. Kept the windows up. |

Overrated by some fans on Hockeybuzz? That would be definite, that's even if all of them hit their ceilings. - Cptmjl
Seems like Isles fans (Isles organization) overrate a lot of our prospects. I dont believe that to be the case with Strome and Mayfield though. I have a feeling these two will do well for us. There are others that will have long careers. Maybe not at the level expected but NHL players none the less.
I've Soured a bit on DeHaan. Mostly because he's frail and often injured. Because we moved up to get him at a price.
Also because he was billed as a top pair Offensive "D" man and it looks like that may have been jumping the gun a bit. His "O" numbers at Bridgeport were less than stellar. If he does ever make the line up and stays healthy. Big IF. I doubt its as a top Pair "D" man. 178 would know better than I. He see's DeHaan play. Maybe he can chip in with some 1st hand info.
Nelson? I like his size. I like what I've heard and read. Except for his short time at Bridgeport. I hear he looked a bit lost. But I'm excited to see him play there for a full season. He could be a very good 2nd or 3rd center for us. Time will tell. It's way to early to say. One way or the other.
Donovan? I really dont know anything about him other than he played a little bit with the Isles last season. I dont think he did a bad job. I dont think he's our answer to a top "D" man but I think he has a career in the NHL. Maybe a 3-4. Definitely a 5-6.
Nino? Well. He looked like crap last yr. But he's 19 yrs old. We cant give up on him at this stage. Although I think he will find his game in due time. I dont think he will be a player that warranted being picked #5 overall. I didnt see the fire and grit in his belly last yr. Thats something that isnt taught. Its inbred, Either you have it or you dont. Same applies to KO. You just dont turn on a switch and become a tough, gritty, power forward. The talent may need time to develop but the attitude should always be there. |

I ran large scale jobs in the Bronx and Harlem. I had two body guards as protection for myself and my crew. Saw stuff that I never thought took place in this country. But the worst was East NY by far. Dont ever get caught there when the sun goes down. Locals run to their apartments to beat sundown. No kidding. |

Do you really think that Islanders fans are the only hockey fans that overrate their prospects? Its what fans do. Fans of all teams. Read any thread on this site about any team and you'll see it. And of course organizations oversell their prospects. Its a part of their job to maximize the value of their assets. Do you want Snow to go around and tell everybody his prospects suck and really aren't prospects at all? |

Some. Not this fan. I'd rather live in reality. For a rebuilding team calling DeHaan a top level prospect may give you an idea of just how effective this "rebuild" is. |

The funny thing is besides Wang saying it was "fun to watch the kids develop" they haven't said a hell of a lot. Snow said he was willing to trade some of them. Strange? |

Was my post about any other team or their fans? NO! Just Isle fans and the Isles organization. Do the Isles fans over estimate their Prospects??? By your words the answer is yes. So you agree with me. Yet you want to argue. Whats your problem?.
By the highlighted statement. You also agree with me that management over estimates their prospects. I said Islander management. Not other organizations. Yet you say all organizations do that. Which would include the NYI. You've got a real problem. You can't even discern when you agree or disagree with something right before your eyes!
So why did you even send this post. Just to argue?
There was a lot more to my post then those two points. Have you got problems with that to.
Try a little reading comprehension and then try. commenting on whats written in Black and White. Not what you believe is written between the lines next time!
Isles and their fans over value their Prospects. Thanks for agreeing. I dont give a rats a$$ about what other teams and their fans do with their prospects.
The topic was about the NYI's. Understand?? |

The funny thing is we(the wolf pack people) constantly get called out for arguing when in fact 9 times out of 10 it's just giving an opinion. If that opinion varies from the poster or(god forbid)Wangs or Snows it's considered whining, or being a debbie downer when in fact it's just reality. Reality. Whether someone is blind to it or just to dense to see whats in front of their face? I can't believe there are still people who defend let alone believe the BS this orginization feeds them? To blindly defend(which I'm sorry to say it is at this point)this team is unreal. |

While Dehaan's numbers weren't there..his outlet passes and vision are above average and he was much better in his own end than i thought. also he was suprisingly physical after his last injury. Donovan's skating is unreal and so are his offensive instincts...his play in his own end makes me soil myself from time to time but the things that he is deficent in are teachable. like i said earlier i believe both will be regular nhl defensman

I expected more Strome love here in the blog today?
What's going on?
Big Game and moment for our Isles prospect.
Isn't this what we wanted for Bailey... development???
Can you see Strome playing with JT this year.... or does he head back to St. Catharines for another year?
Dominate JR's for the year.... represent Canada @ the World Jr's, then make the move next year?
I wish he could play with the Ice Dogs until after the World Jr's... then play with Nelson, Nino, Casey, de Haan, etc... in Bridgeport.

In a perfect world (or should I say a real organization) thats what would happen. But the isles have not developed their prospects starting with Bailey. They were so desperate for bodies that they had Bailey, Tavares and Nino prematurely playing in a league against men. This is why we're in year 5 of the rebuild and still havent seen progress....
The best example of why boys shouldnt be playing against men is Tavares. CLEARLY he had talent in the O, being that he held the record for pts. But, there is more to hockey than pts. Let the kids build confidence and grow physically! |
