Seidenberg only got 19-games of NA hockey before they rushed him into the lineup hoping he would be an offensive contributor... he was undersized and overwhelmed, and when he couldn't put up the expected numbers, they cut bait before allowing him to round out his game.
Pitkanen wasn't rushed to the NHL, but he was rushed up the depth chart and was gift-wrapped a prominent role -- we all know now that he wasn't mentally ready to be an adult, much less a pro, at that time, so fast-tracking him to stardom probably wasn't the best idea.
Sbisa was in the NHL at the age of 18 -- that's pretty much the very definition of rushed. Is it any wonder that Anaheim sent him back to junior for a year before they brought him in as a regular? - Tomahawk
None of them were rushed. Seidenberg played some for the Flyers and then wen down to the AHL for over 100 games. Then they had a need for a Center and traded him for Nedved. They gave up on him too early, not rushed him.
And Sbisa clearly showed he was capable of playing in the NHL as an 18 year old. Up and down play for young defenseman is typical. And Sbisa is well on his way to being a very good defenseman. |

Not a bad idea
But I wouldn't be surprised if Weber forces Nashville's hand and he ends up in the Orange and Black next summer. It's tough to have a disgruntled player with a monster contract on any team. - NickTheKid87
Or, more likely, Nashville never gives him his trade clause and instead ships him off to Edmonton for an epic return.

I still think there's like a 30 percent chance he ends up here in 3 years. |

Its not like Coburn is horrible either. He's a very good defenseman, room for improvement no doubt but has been a rock for us especially in the Playoffs.

Haha I wouldn't be surprised if that's half the reason they don't want to give him a NTC. If he gets his NTC then he could potentially handcuff Nashville if or when he demands a trade. |

and coburn sucks despite being probably our best defenseman in the past two playoffs. While Simmonds couldn't get more than a goal because of a broken finger.

Either way, the point is that the Flyers have drafted good dmen... they just don't often get to see the fruits of those picks for various reasons. |

actually some good points by you, except for Kimo being the best dmen for us this year, I didn't think so but maybe that's just a matter of Opinion. You do make it seem like you're saying Coburn sucks. |

Marincin/Klefbom + Teubert/Musil + Gagner + Hemsky + 1st-round pick(s) trump anything that the Flyers would be willing to put together, that's for sure... and that's just a conservative proposal on EDM's part, too. |

That I agree with. I think one of the biggest reasons is this Organization continually tries to win. And is not afraid to ship off prospects to fill needs for the Flyers. A lot of those deals haven't worked out. But do you kill them for taking a chance and going for it? |

I completely agree. They could offer up Hall plus a first or a prospect and that could get the job done too. |
