I've never seen O'Reilly play. What's the big deal? His stats aren't impressive. - rayzablades2
O'reilly is one of the best players on the avs (gabe is the best) and is known for amazing 2 way game and hard work. He also led the league in Take aways last year, is great in the circle and can play any situation. You dont get him for the points. However I would be SHOCKED if the avs traded him. The entire MGMT is in love with the kid. The only reason his contract is probably causing problems is because Duchene signed for so low and so did EJ |

Not necessarily and the plan is to win now. - rmiethaner
Well as of "right this second" hes supposively AHL ready. I doubt it takes him a year or more to be NHL ready! Most first round picks are pretty close to NHL ready when drafted! |

well why would the Sabres waste picks / what not on a player that plays exactly like the 14th overall pick by the sabres ??? Girgensons game is basically what your talking about! and hes a year or less away from being NHL ready. - buffalofan1027
you can never have too many of that type of player on your team, IMO.
They won't offer sheet him because that's not how Darcy operates. But we can hope. That's the fun of message boards after all. |

If the avs are going to trade away stastny, they would want to take back younger roster players and while Ennis is ok, I would demand A package deal with marcus Foligno - Meeqsb

Definitely not gonna happen. They were able to trade away Kassian because of the way Foligno developed over the past few years. They felt comfortable in that Foligno was going to be the player they had envisioned Kassian was supposed to be. Turns out they should have just taken someone else with that 1st round pick because they got a gem later in the draft anyway.

Kass is gonna struggle for 4th line minutes in couver it sounds like...
Stastny is not worth nearly what these av fans think.. av mgnt has basically said Oreilly is 1c, duchene is 2c.. i doubt they put duchene on the wing like a few years ago.
I did hear thay a stastny for hjalmarsson chatter happened... I think thatd be a good trade for both sides.. |

His oerformance in this series definitly doesnt give me a ton of belief in him making buffalo this year.
Girgensons still has a very good shot to be our 3C with Ott and Leino.
I really like the grit of thay line in addition to its scoring abikity where as our orevious grit line od gerbe, goose, and kaleta were not a scoring threat. |

The only reason I'm not too worried about him through this series is that he's probably still dealing with some of the effects from the mono he had. From what I've heard, when you have that, it takes a really long time to get back to feeling normal. I would think for an athlete, it would cause issues for just as long, if not more since it effects your stamina and everything.
He has issues with his stamina to begin with, that can't be helping his cause at all either. |

me too but in all reality the owners really lost out from what they were barganing for and what they actually got. IMO the owners are the one's taking all the risks so they should get a bigger % than the players. yes i understand that w/o the players there is no NHL but same goes for the owners. - joshs
This I agree with 110% a 60/40 split would seem fine for me.
In simple math terms. Say revenue for 1 year is 100 Mil. Players take 40% of that which is 40 Million. divide that out between 750 players and thats a 53,000 bonus per player basically, on top of their salary.
I know it's more complicated then that though. |

I can tell you from experience it is not fun. I had a Pneuonia and it took me a month just to get back to being able to be active. Even after that it still took me a month or so after before i was able to do anything strenuous.
I can only imagine what mono would do. Lung infections/viruses are no fun. |

There was always something about Kassian that just...bothered me, I guess. He didn't seem legit. His "toughness" was fake in a sense. Like it was all an act. He has skill and I wish him the best but I'm glad Foligno basically took his place. |

60/40 is ridiculous. It will have to end up being something like the 47-50% split that football and basketball got. |

Well, like the same time as the NHL playoffs. Depends on what round they were in. But mono isn't something that's super easy to just get over. It wipes out any stamina you have. Then you have to build it back up. That takes time. |

Yea I agree. Kassian had 2 illegal hits / got suspended. After those 2 hits his draft stock rose because he was supposively the "next Lucic"
NHL wise he was awful. He wasn't the biggest dude on the ice anymore. He barely hit, fought once or 2x on the Sabres, and didn't have it. Defensive zone he looked lost, played like he was bored.
I will admit his first 2 games he was a cool player to watch but didnt like the way ge played. then he got bored or wasn't motivated. He didn't hit. He gave the puck away and just looked awful. Thank god we traded him for Hodgson. The Canucks got screwed in the trade |

Kassian's suspensions came after he had been drafted. It had nothing to do with how high his draft position was. Suspensions are actually going to work in reverse of how you think they do when it comes to the draft. |
