Correct! If your posting on here over a dozen times a day in the dead of summer when nothing has happened in a month ….you may need to check life's priorities.

Hey I'm just passing time while at work. Sometimes there are great conversations sometimes not.

Think you can expand the list and the goalies went on to do much better things. Like Roli and Conklin. Just never seem to use a backup properly. Not looking up the stats seemed that the days with Puppa/Malarchuk/Fuhr they were splitting starts pretty regularly.
- hubie

i would say once Hasek became a stud the use of a backup was minimal.. about the only time we split starts was when they were deciding between miller and biron

Anyone get the feeling were headed for another season long lockout ?This X baseball rep is worst then the players had representing them before and we all know what kind of douchbag Bettman is.
- buffalo 1

Jvince and I were talking yesterday on here that if there is another lockout I think you can say goodbye to some teams. I dont think they could survive another one. The amount of fans you will loose in non traditional hockey markets with be eye opening.

I agree think sheilds got a good chunk, but I see waht your saying. Clearly, its a bunch of kids and find out who rises to the top in this case was Miller.

It's easy to blame Ruff for mismanaging the backups, and he does share blame, but look at who the two starting goaltenders are/were when he "mismanaged" his backups: Hasek and Miller. Both have pretty big egos, and both wanted the playing time. I'm pretty sure that some posturing behind the scenes is not uncommon.

Absoluetely, im sure Hasek would say im playing or ill go somewhere they will play me every game. 72 games in the 97-98(hart/vezina/peason season) season plus 15 playoff games

If I had a goalie who did not want playing time is when I would be worried.

Hasek had a bad groin back in his hay day... not he is what? 52 years old?

He wouldn't be able to play more than 10-12 games in a season IF THAT.

He's 47 and for the record in his last 2 years of playing he played a combined 97 games.

Ya, that's pretty impressive. Especially considering the groin issues he's faced forever. I'd bet he could come back and still be better than alot of the goaltenders in the NHL.

I worry that his comeback would be like Foppa's with the Avs 2 years ago.

looked great.. was in shape... played good hockey... Signs a half year contract with the Avs... plays 2 games.. 1 assist.. and re-retires.. making 3M in the process.

I had forgotten about that. I wonder when Selanne is going to drop off but he never does. I think he may be one of the last players I loved watching as a kid thats still around.

This!
We are in for a long lockout, IMO.
I was planning to go catch the Sabres in Nassau against the Islanders on Oct-20, or against the Devils on Oct-26.
It's all a pipe dream now!

- Sabresfan88

Sad for the fans and how it seems theyve learned nothing from the last lockout. Its all about the money always was always will be.My only satisfaction is knowing the greedy guys in cable and Direct Tv wont be getting thier millions in revenue.

Vaneks most productive year was when Roy was his center. Just sayin.
- RynoBull

Only cause I was bored.

It wouldnt let me bring up the box scores for the Atlanta games in which he had 7 points in.

Out of the other 77 points Vanek had in 06/07 43 of those Roy was not a part of.

Just some useless facts for the day.

$1 million, and my guess would be that it was pro-rated so he didn't get the whole amount. Just a guess though.

i would say he could be a serviceable back up.. problem again becomes his ego.. if he goes on a tear where he plays 2 or 3 good games in a row he is goign to be asking to be the starter..

I would of liked to see them give Hasek a try if nothing eles maybe Miller could of benifited from Dom being on the bench. He might of brough some excitment back into the building as well and showed our loyalty to our players. What would it of cost us and Id say hes probably still better then Enroth in the few games hed play

Hasek brought his team to win the Czech league championship like 2 straight years... and I thought he then went to play in a more competitive league and he turned out to play average in that league or hurt I thought?? I could be completely wrong.

There would probably be other goalies I'd call first... Niittymaki, Dan Ellis, Marty Turco, Brent Johnson, and Ty Conklin just to name a few.
