I think he could handle 30 games.
- dadeadhead

according to Hockey DB the last season he played was 10/11 in the KHL where he played 46 games.. i thought he played last year in the KHL too but i guess i was wrong.. i would put 30 at his upper end limit

i would say he could be a serviceable back up.. problem again becomes his ego.. if he goes on a tear where he plays 2 or 3 good games in a row he is goign to be asking to be the starter..
- IndianaSabresFan

Agree 100%. Looking at backups stats from last year compared with Hasek's stats he last 2 years playing, he could definitely be a backup somewhere. solely based on stats, not accounting for different levels of play between NHL and Europe.

that is good.... i think it would be cool but almost wrong at the same time to bring Hasek back.. everyone is going to expect the same old hasek and that is not what we are going to get.. it could go horribly bad and i dont want him to do that to himself more than he already did after the detriot thing.

i agree. at one point he was a good goalie with great puck handling skills and sweet pads but now is useless and would be worse than the tbo experiment

Well put. Heard stories of a friend of mines dad going to see Willie Mays and the let down of seeing him way past his prime and in serious need of hanging them up. I have a image oh Hasek in my mind and dont think ill see it in the current shell of Hasek. Families seats are right behind the shoot once side so the amount of great saves right in front of my eyes are some of the greatest memeories as a kid.

I more so meant bring in for try outs in camp or whatnot... not necessarily sign.

I DO NOT want Enroth to be traded by any means. I think he has shown very good signs of progress but he does not have the long distance stamina yet. I also do not think that after next season (2 seasons) when Miller's contract expires at the same time as Vanek and Pommer that this team will have a copmletely turned over roster. Miller will NOT resign.. they will let Vanek walk.. .and Pommer I could see coming back as a vet role player not as captain if he takes a pay cut to no more than 4M per year.

Think about some of the goalies in this league.

$1 million, and my guess would be that it was pro-rated so he didn't get the whole amount. Just a guess though.

- J03Y

He received a $1 million dollar signing bonus and then the year's salary of $1M so I was wrong about the numbers.

Height is not necessary for goaltender... Miller might be 6'2 but is 166 lbs.. but then you have a guy like Rinne who I believe is like 6'5.

Just seems like the area in the upper corners seems bigger than anyone else.

i understand what you mean.. i don't think he can ever be a starter just because of that.. i think he will be a solid back up for years to come but if he were ever put into the starting role he would fail.. he has some weak spots in his game and if teams were to review the tape it would be easier and easier to find them... that being said he may be short but his coverage of the top part of the net is still better than Miller who is what 4" taller?

they have to be that much faster.. with the speed of the game the more the net you can cover without moving the better.. Enroth has to be 7" faster than Rinne (in theory).. when the puck is going 100 mph that makes a HUGE difference

In the Czech league Hasek did have very good numbers in 09-10 with a 922% S% and a 2.26 GAA.

but when he tried to step it up in the KHL in 10-11 his stats went to .915 and 2.48 GAA.

That is Miller's NHL stats but playing in the KHL. The competition is maybe 2 fold better in the NHL vs KHL... if not more.

dont know if I can go as far as better but they both leave the upper part open. Think with Enroth started well when he was called up but then the tape got out on him and people know how to beat him now.

I agree with your theory.. and I know that the bigger you are the most net you can cover... I did my whole thesis on goaltenders, reaction time, and puck velocity. I even created a standardized test to be used for goalies at a combine/try out much like a 40 yard dash is for football players...

My point being... angles account for much more of a goaltenders "coverage" than people understand.. Miller is not necessary lightening fast.. and neither is Quick or Lundqvist. They are not huge nor extremely fast.. but what they are.. is smart.. they use their angles in order to cover more of the net or take away angles.

Enroth really did drop off in the NHL after his first 30 games or soo... he didn't get much help though from the team with the 10th and 11th string dmen being called up last season. Enroths biggest weakness is his 5 hole

Wouldnt mind reading that. Goaltending seems to have cycles looks to be in the mid to end of the big goalie time and could shift to smaller goalies.
