yea but how many do you need? cause the flyers have a handful already. - JoeRussomanno
Who would you say fits that description? Timonen, Briere, Ruslan and Hartsy are the only three that occur to me (as well as Lilja and Shelley, but they're not the nightly fixtures the previous three are). I'm not saying we need to fulfill a quota or anything, I'm just disagreeing that having these kinds of players isn't preventing our star players from getting the time and responsibilities they need to thrive. |

I pick the day I don't eat lunch to drop by and what are you all talking about? Chinese food. . . damn you all. - kgrpitt
There are a few Chinese food places around here that sell a "Crosby Egg Roll". I do not recommend, it's just filled with limp noodles. |

I'd slide Coburn into that and really at this stage in his career Giroux should know what it takes to win in this league and what to do in any situation. So between what you named and me there's five guys. Oh yea Talbot, that's definitely at least five. |

Bill,
In light of last summer's tragedies involving Boogaard, Rypien, and Belak and the subsequent media emphasis on the troubled mindset of many NHL enforcers, I feel like the Flyers are hesitant to waive Shelley so they can avoid the possible PR fallout that would follow. I can picture articles drawing a link between the Broadstreet Bullies waiving their heavyweight enforcer truly signaling the end of an era. Do you think that the Flyers wanting to avoid looking hypocritical (i.e. being so associated with fighting yet discarding a tried and true warrior to the minors) may lead to them allowing Shelley to play out his contract in the NHL, even if it makes sense to waive him? - Benway
I don't think there's anything to worry about it that regard. Shelley will be OK if the Flyers waive him. He's a well-adjusted sort of guy and, at age 36, knows time is ticking on his NHL career. I also don't think there will be any PR issues at all, nor will it change the Flyers' reputation (especially if both Rinaldo and Sestito are on the team).

I wouldn't say those players aren't veterans, but I thought we were making the distinction between them and older players? I think there's really something to be said for players that have lived in the league for years, seen the game and the way it's changed. |

Bill,
Maybe you know this. But what happened with Kubina? Everyone assumed he got injured, but was it something more? Did he not fit in? Did he piss off Lavy? Was he just terrible? I went over his numbers and they weren't bad for the full season from an older aging vet. He had days with Tampa and Philly where he put in 20+ minutes a night. As short as we are on Defense, the fact that Nobody is even coming close to mentioning him as a possibility. Leads me to think that something went very wrong. Any particular reason the Flyers are staying away from this big veteran right handed shot defensemen with offensive upside when healthy? |

I knew he was hurt. I thought Giroux did a good thing thanking him after the Pittsburgh series for Toughing it out though injured. But I thought he might be able to heal a bit over the summer. |

Thats the greatness of chinese it never takes longer than 10mins before its done. - stveshdy
Sometimes it scares me to think why that is
I personally hate pasta (similar to richie18 yes I know), so all of the chow mein's and such are usually out of the question.
Im a plain kind of guy. Ginger beef. Medium spicy. Deep fried breaded shrimp. |

I thinking maybe his injuries are more severe than we have been informed of. That or they don't want to add another injury prone player. Now I'm not sure he is, if not would love for someone to support the case. However we have a blueline stocked with guys that have some injury history Grossmann, Kimo and bourdon come to mind. |

I might be wrong but didnt Tampa bench him right before the deadline to avoid injuries as it was?
I loved his game when he first arrived. Thats when the injuries piled on. I think he's done as a player. |

it's because most of it is stir fried and that typically isn't a long arduous meal to prepare. |
