I wonder if the players' would be willing to give a concession on adding a year to rookie contracts? Just curious, what is the number of games a player has to play during a season to accrue a year towards free agency?

I believe an accrued season is spending 40 games on a NHL roster(not playing in 40), and I know rookie status is 25 games played.

I think the majority of owners are in favor of it. It's the minority of the richer team owners that aren't likely for it. You know, this is Bettman's plan. That the Cap is linked to HRR. The player's have offered to de-link it. And just go with the Cap rising on a pre determined percentage. Bettman got what he wanted the last time, now he doesn't like his own plan.

Bettman's dream of 30 viable and profitable franchises can't happen just on the players dime. The owners have to do their share to make it happen. And that has to happen with increases in revenue sharing.

been a busy day in and out all day, just finally got time to read through your blog, Bill. Wow Simmonds re-signed I think that's good news for sure, as for the CBA negotiations, we'll just have to wait and see worst comes to worse we'll have to wait until October 2013 for a hockey season. If anything I think we see a 60 game season.
