The ratings are an average of their attributes. Statsny wont be as good as JT in the real game. JT will be much more balanced, where as Statsny in the game likely gets most of that from his offensive awareness, passing, puck control, etc |

something else you guys need to note is that there is a hidden stat of sort, for example despite the fact that (using the same example as many) Dubinsky is rated higher than Elias, you are still more likely to score what seems like a random shot with Elias than you would with Duby, this stat takes into account a player like Elias' natural knack for offense even if his overall rating isnt as good
its a sort of hockey sense type of stat maybe - Habitants98
The funny thing is of all of Elias skills that have supposedly diminished i would say its his shot that has the most. The guy can still fly and is one of the best passers in the league he simply makes players around him better, he got top 10 in points playing second line in a position that isn't natural for him and played with Petr (frank)ing sykora...not Kovalchuk or Zach Parise. |

well there are definetly some players that dont deserve their rating tho after lookin em over....Zbynek is at the top of the list.....and also its really not fair to Elias to give him the same rating as Shawn Horcoff lol thats a damn shame |

Paul statsney is definetly better than the current version of Elias....he's a guy who plays in every scenario (those types of players get boosts, see Jordan Staal)
its not Elias' Legacy vs Statsney curently that wouldnt be fair |

Its a joke it seems they made a few guys god like and then the rest of the players like poop...I just dont understand it at all. ELias had 12 more points then brad richards and richards is an 87.... |

Elias still plays everywhere though no one seems to understand this. He goes against the other teams top line most of the time. |

I really, really hope you're joking with that statement. Elias plays in all situations, against opposing teams top line and was 10th in scoring playing center (not his natural position) with Sykora and Zubrus. |

yes and all that is great except he's also like 36 and not a young full of endurance Statsny, what can you argue that Statsny isnt as good at? its clear that Elias is the better Offensive player from last year but thats not what they base it on, it factors in but its far from the only thing
i mean either way i think Elias should have had at the very least the same rating as he did last year, but you can only understand it when you try using each player in the game, you can feel the difference especially in speed

If we're arguing about how good Elias is then it just cements that people still don't know that he's good.
Also, lol @ Rangers fans who think Dubinsky is still more than a plug. He should be rated like Ryan Carter or Steve Bernier. |

What does age have to do with it? Are you telling me that Lidstrom the past couple of years was just not as good because he was old? Patty isn't slow and he plays 20+ minutes every game in all situations. Elias isn't the better offensive player last year compared to Statsny; he's always been the better offensive player. |

NHL 13 does not = NHL in real life i thought that much would be obvious, and in the game i for one rarely used lidstrom because you CAN feel the difference when you use him vs using a younger faster player, this GAME is all about speed
and yes like i said about Elias if u didnt read, the stats arent based on someone's legacy as i pointed out im well aware that he's better, u need to understand that this game does not work like how the real NHL works |

awe bummer, i was hoping they'd have the rosters from last year to start ..
These are the overall ratings, and yea i'm surprised by Elias.. but whats important is his speed, puck control and shooting. I'm sure he takes a hit in checking, faceoffs etc. I'm too concerned.. but yea 82 does seem about 5 points too low.
EA NEVER EVER EVER gets the lines or positions right. Its so taxing to manually adjust the roster and positions of the players. but it is what it is. I'd probably call up Tedenby for his speed and play him in the top 6 to get the puck to Kovy or Elias. |

So we should accept that the game isn't trying to be realistic. oh, okay. |

Elias was a top 10 scorer last year, went up against the top lines, carried Petr Sykora on his back the whole season, and was a big part of the best PK in history. Its not even close IMO. If Elias has a huge regression this year then maybe. |

best example of how its not about last year's point totals.....Alex Ovechkin jus cuz he only had 65 points last year does that drop him to the 80-85 range? of course not |

this isnt about how good he will be, its about how good he is now next to crosby, is he as fast? nope, is he as good on faceoffs? nope, is he as good on D, nope,
u guys need to understand its an overall rating on their full skill level as hockey players (in which case there's more to account for than offensive ability), not an evaluation of how good a season they had - Habitants98
have you watched him this year? he is much faster, and his problem wasn't overall speed, it was acceleration, which he made huge strides in
faceoff wise he isn't amazing but hes well above average, over 1500 taken and a 51.4% win percentage?
and as for defense, he forechecks, he backchecks, he actually is pretty nice defensively, he holds it down and the line together.
Matt moulson (while i love him) and PA are HORRIBLE defensively, MM because hes not too quick, and PA because he has no idea what to do
again i dont rate JT defensive abilities to far below dubinskys, except dubinsky is a much better hitter

The rating system has always been a joke, I wish it was as good as Madden's. Would it be so hard to assign one person to each team who is familiar with the entire roster |

im not saying he is better, but ill give it a go
plays infront of a much worse defensive team, played like a god against team canada in olympics, and was actually really good until he was concussed this season, and is usually a top goalie
again if anything i would make him slighly less than lunqd (1-2 points below or equal) |
