You've got to keep in mind that the overall rating has always favoured guys who do everything... so while Erik Karlsson is an 86 and is likely close to 100 in most offensive stats, his hitting isn't likely terribly high nor does he fight... so guys like Elias and Karlsson can be rated lower than guys with less high end skill but who are physical like Clarke MacArthur (83) or Niklas Kronwall (88). It's an imperfect system, but I'm sure Karlsson is going to play a lot better than Kronwall.
