It was in the speculation of the possibilities. But neither side has proposed a luxury tax. Both sides proposals has had a continuation of a hard salary cap. - MJL
Oh okay. Will see what happens. I'm not expecting to see hockey anytime soon. |

No.
It's a fair deal for the next 2-3 years. Beyond that, it'll be an albatross. - bradleyc4

Your words were, "You've got to be kidding me." that's a far cry from minor concerns on the length - JoeRussomanno
Don't like the length. Just my opinion. Have to be kidding me with those years. I like Hartnell but not for 6 years. |

I know better when posting...we have investigators out dissecting every single word. My bad.
I did state that I would like the deal at 4 years max and not 6 years. |

I love Hartnell and the team is loyal. But also short-sighted, in my opinion.
I do think Hartnell could have gotten more on the open market, but not too many smart decisions are made in the first week of July. |

If 4 years meant a $5.5mm hit and 6 years means $4.75mm, I'll take the six years. |

No I'm not old enough to remember the 60's and 70's wow. That doesn't change the fact that Pro athletes in the Olympics bastardizes the event. - JoeRussomanno
Because heaven forbid it be the best athletes. Let's have gentleman athletes who only train on their lunch hours and an occasional weekend at mumsy's, Avery. |

If he has a similar season (provided there is a season this year) then hits free agency I think we can be assured his cap-hit would have been much higher had the Flyers looked to resign. Matt Carle should have taught us this. |

Contract negotiations are a give and take sometimes when it is done fairly. If you want a player to give up Free Agency in his prime, you have to give him something in return to do so. Especially for the lower Cap hit. Hartnell wanted long term security. The Flyers gave to him in exchange for the lower AAV. This is a prime example of a great deal for both sides.

I watch pro-sports for that. Seriously the pro-guys leaving for the olympics messes up the flow of a season with leagues like the NHL.
Edit: also it would give the amateur guys a lil more exposure too. Why don't we have Pro-boxers in the olympics? |
