Ok fine, ill take G out and insert Briere. Never said he wasnt captain material, never said he wasnt a leader, I just think Kimmo, Hartnell are a bit more of leaders. Im always wrong so this is a good thing... - FLYERSROCK!
I'm just going off what the players have said. I'm sure Giroux is in the mix as a candidate to be the captain.

I believe Briere would make a great captain, but I personally would choose Timonen. Part of why i'd choose Kimmo is because he's not very injury prone. a hes always banged up, but he still plays 77+ games every year.

Timonen is 37 going on 38. Not 30 like Hartnell is. Timonen doesn't need security. And I don't have a worry about him signing with someone else. I think if he plays past this year, it's with the Flyers. - MJL
You'd also like to make sure he's able to maintain his health/level of play... and leave open the option of trading for a more long-term solution at some point.

Absolutely. Agree 100%. More solid reasons not to re-sign Timonen to a multi year deal. Very good point.

Everyone has who they feel is the right candidate. Out of the choices of Timonen, Briere, Giroux, Talbot. You can make a case for all of them. I don't care who get's it.

It's a positive in and of itself that there's so many good candidates.

Gotta love Homer and the Flyers, CBA be dammed, business as usual. I think Hartsy's deal is fair for both sides. Others have mentioned, if Kimmo plays after this year, I have little doubt he'll go year to year on a contract with the Flyers. I highly doubt Kimmo is interested in playing anywhere else at this stage of his life.

Good contract for both sides, but Harts is a little overrated in this town - Daman
i wouldnt say that
every other year he takes alot of heat (and sometimes its deserved). but ive seen fans of other teams on this site covet him for their teams for years now.
remember last year at this time he was looked at by Flyer fans as the odd man out and many wanted him traded
