Really? Up until this past season I would say the majority of fans wanted him run out of town....including the first month of this past season. - MBFlyerfan
Wonder if a majority of them even paid attention for long spans or just listened to sports radio to gain their opinion. |

You'd also like to make sure he's able to maintain his health/level of play... and leave open the option of trading for a more long-term solution at some point. - Tomahawk
They can always ask Timmo to go on a year to year contract a la Lidstrom during his last two seasons. That leaves options open for both. |

There were a couple of years, most notably the 09-10 season, when he wasn't playing up to his contract. On a cap strapped team, he was an obvious target. |

i wouldnt say that
every other year he takes alot of heat (and sometimes its deserved). but ive seen fans of other teams on this site covet him for their teams for years now.
remember last year at this time he was looked at by Flyer fans as the odd man out and many wanted him traded - Crimsoninja
I believe the term used was 'redundant'. |

Makes sense. As you would expect. I am happy. Hartsy is a true flyer and now for a cap hit slightly higher than ville for poor buff! |

I see us leaning on Kimmo for a few years more as inevitable. We are going to need him and aside from hoping the over 35 rules change, I don't see the point of dancing around the subject. I think if Kimmo wants a 2 year deal, Homer's going to give it to him. In all his years playing for us, I think he's has been our best player. |

Progressing with one year deals isn't dancing around the subject. Why tie yourself up with an older player with a sizable Cap hit for more then one year if you don't have to?

So anyone think our D is going to get so thin this year we see Matt Walker, Blake Kessel or Danny Syvert? Keep in mind, we have cap space. - flyler
MAB/Gus/Manning, definitely.
Syvret, probably.
Konan/Lauridsen, maybe.
Walker, if they're desperate.
Kessel, not unless he pulls a MAB. |

And if that surprises anyone, I'd have to say welcome to the world of being a NHL fan.
Had to know he was getting a full NTC, at the very least. |

I had a lot of issues with Hartnell. But the guy won me over, big time. I just hate having to agree with MOAT |

Three major trades in Flyers history took place on this date:
1982 -- Flyers trade Ken Linseman, Greg Adams and 1983 first-round (David Jensen) and third-round (Leif Karlsson) to Hartford for Mark Howe and 1983 third-round pick (Derrick Smith).
1997 -- Tampa Bay agrees not match offer sheet to RFA center Chris Gratton, receiving four compensatory first-round picks (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001) from the Flyers. The four picks were immediately traded back to Philadelphia in exchange for Mikael Renberg and Karl Dykhuis.
2001 -- Flyers trade Eric Lindros to New York Rangers for Kim Johnsson, Jan Hlavac, Pavel Brendl and 2003 3rd-round pick (Stefan Ruzicka). |

Those fans, however many, probably underrated him.
He is an above average power forward and excels as a mosquito type. Good around net (ten feet and in). Not always the most discipline and a little bit of a clown. But overall a good contract IMO. |

Yeah, that Jan Hlavac was born to be a Flyer.
I would have posted a pic of Hlavac as a Flyer, but the most common result when I googled Jan Hlavac Flyers are pictures of Lindros |

As soon as he was traded to the Flyers he forgot how to play Hockey.

Funny thing was, Brashear outscored him the year they were traded for one another, 32 to 31 points.
Hlavac was horrible. |
