? Hes 36 when the contract is over... he'll be playing with one of the premier Centers in the league the rest of his career. Tell me why 6 years is bad please. |

Power Forwards break down. Bill had a blog on it earlier this summer I believe. Not a fan of signing him to six years with all the young kids coming up for raises very soon including Mr. Giroux. |

Shane Doan is 35 this year. I like Doan put hes not worth the money that hes asking. Have to wait on the terms with Hartnell. |

I'm guessing in the 5.5 range. |

Power forwards are notorious for major declines around age 32-35... and signing him right after a career year almost assures that he's snagged himself a healthy raise. Have to see the terms first, but a 3-4 year deal would have been ideal. |

Tocchet, Brind'amour, Hartnell... I see a Simmonds and a Schenn either one, making their way onto my favorite Flyers of all time list. |

?
So what, they were just gonna give him a 1 year extension?
Im not worried about the cap at all. We have more cap space than people think. Now stop complaining. This is a good day.
Also, Hartnell showed this past year that hes a vital asset to this team. Losing him would be a huge blow.
You're the only one complaining baout it so far... |

Because power forwards don't typically age well or have their best seasons from age 32 on.
Hartnell has a lot of mileage on those tires, coming in as an 18-year-old. He's going on Season #12 this year and is now signed on for Seasons #13-18.
He needed to be re-signed, I just hope the number of years were given as a concession for a lighter cap hit. We'll see. |

Yes exactly, Shane Doan is 35. Just because a power forward is north of 30 doesn't mean he will fall off the face of the earth. I'd say Hartnell breaks the 20 goal mark 4 of those six years. |

Always negativity in Flyerdom.
Shane Doan, Jarome Iginla, Jaormir Jagr all say hi. Ad im sure players like Bobby Ryan, E. Staal and co will join them.
Im not worried. |

I'm not knocking Hartnell just dont like the length of the deal. Guess thats not allowed around here. |
