I suppose we'll see, what with the CBA uncertainty. He won't be cheap though, that's for sure. - BulliesPhan87
5 years 40 million if he keeps up the pace. More if he continues his upward spiral. |

You will be yelling at him by New Years (if theres a season). - stveshdy
Nah. I like Hartnell. Undisciplined at times with the stick infractions, he totally won me over the night he threw his glove. I was howling. Hartnell is a very likable guy when he is on the team you root for. |

Well, the attitude here on Hartnell has changed a lot since I was getting screamed down every time someone tried to trade him for a pair of new skate blades.

Little high, but I like what Scotty too Hottie brings every night. And ridiculously durable. - Deasr1
It's really not high. He could of gone to free agency and gotten more. Especially if he repeats last Season. This is a really good deal for the Flyers in my opinion.

God I REALLY Hope TP is finally right on this one... that low cap hit would wash out the "too many years" |

With Mccrossin in that screenshot, I'm surprised Hartnell's ear didn't fall off on his next shift. |

I'll openly admit I was one of many calling for his immediate trade when things were going badly during the 2009-10 season. I'm very glad to have been wrong. |

If you join the military to play sports you must be hard up for cash and really not that good anyway. The leagues you're talking about aren't quite "Pro" leagues, not much different than collegiate sports. - JoeRussomanno
What we are talking about is how the move went from amateurs to pros in the Olympics. In the 60s and 70s the Eastern Block (and even West German) teams were largely composed of career military who were recruited, developed, and trained for their athletics prowess in service of the motherland. They were professional athletes who were nominally amateur. The rules were changed so that professionals are now the norm. Perhaps you aren't old enough to remember. |

He's going to command elite player money. I'm expecting over $8M AAV. - stveshdy
If the League has it's way and the CBA is changed to limit term years and eliminate signing bonuses. Giroux's Cap hit will be much higher then that.

No I'm not old enough to remember the 60's and 70's wow. That doesn't change the fact that Pro athletes in the Olympics bastardizes the event. |

I would trust National guys before the Philly Stooges. Wait for Bob M or Dreger to weigh in. |

The Flyers will have to trade away players to keep him or go over a the luxury tax (which could be in place w/ CBA). |

If there's a luxury tax, you know the Flyers will be over it. |
