I guess considering the pool to work hockey radio they are fine. Basically the guys who do radio aren't good enough to do TV. - PLindbergh31

Fortunately, I got Comcast to throw in free basic cable when we switched over at the office, so I'll get to at least watch some of those games this season - BulliesPhan87
Nice!
My cable company just picked up NFL Network. I can cease the hateful letters to James Dolan. To think in a way my money goes to funding the Rangers in however small a way, makes me ill. |

Never puked. He got hit in the ribs by Teddi Bruschi and suffered a costal cartilage strain. Had the wind knocked out of him and went into a coughing fit.
Even Westbrooke has stated that. Also, there is no footage of him puking, but there is of him coughing and gasping. - jak521
The Eagles coaching staff did an excellent job protecting McNabb's weaknesses as well. It's no coincidence that his game has completely taken a turn since leaving here. Now hes getting older but he still should of had 3-4 years of game left in the tank after the trade. |

The next day, center Hank Fraley said of McNabb on Comcast Sportsnet’s Angelo Cataldi Show: “He gave it his all. He was almost puking in the huddle. One play had to be called by Freddie Mitchell because Donovan was mumbling because he was almost puking.”
Note the word almost. Twice.
Mitchell’s take, as quoted Feb. 9: “You could see that he was dealing with some kind of complication . . . I don’t know if it was breathing or what . . .
Note: “I don’t know if it was breathing or what.”
McNabb’s blanket denials on Feb. 9 at the Pro Bowl – “No, I wasn’t sick, and no, I didn’t throw up” – apparently failed to satisfy the doubters.
“No, Freddie did not call a play. I get the plays in my helmet, so he couldn’t call a play,” McNabb said.
Running back Brian Westbrook sided with that story. “He wasn’t sick. He was coughing a little, but he didn’t seem sick,” Westbrook said.
Other players were also asked. Guard Jermane Mayberry said he “didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.” Receiver Greg Lewis spoke of “coughing . . . I thought he’d just lost his breath.” Guard Artis Hicks mentioned “gagging” to the Inquirer, saying of McNabb, “I thought he was going to throw up.” But he also told the Daily News: “It wasn’t nothing serious. . . . We all knew what he was trying to get out, and we went ahead and ran it.” - jak521
so we can establish that he dry heaved, not much different. |

Agree with your concept here. Radio is a tougher job, and the PBP guy has to describe things in more detail. So it is a harder job no question. But my point was guys are doing radio because they have no offers to do TV I would think. |

If you can take dry heaving out of coughing and struggling for air due to a hit then yes we can agree. The guy never puked.. He took a huge hit, got the wind knocked out of him, and yet on the very next play threw a thirty yard strike for a TD... |

i also think it depends on what you went to school for. Radio and Television broadcasting a very different beasts. I think Franzke and LA do a MUCH better job than McCarthy and Wheeler |

Or maybe that guys start in radio and work their way up to TV. Jim Jackson started in radio play by play for the Flyers. |

Sorry to hear that dude, Lack of Good Cholesterol is normally a sign of not exercising enough rather than eating poorly. Though it's different for everyone and if it stops you from having burgers all the time... that ain't a bad thing. Anyway hope it gets better dude. |

He threw three interceptions that game... no doubt it sucked.. He also threw the ball 50 times had 360 yards and 3 TDs. People just liked to use him as the scapegoat. They forget that he was sacked 4 times, or that Dirk Johnson had like a 12 yard punt that set up the first Pats TD.... and thats my point. Vick gets those breaks... for whatever reason.. |

Danny, sorry to hear about the passing. Best wishes to you and your family. the Eagles will be fine. A Superbowl, most likely not. But I think they make the playoffs by winning the division. I have never had any Five Guys food. Hartnell staying is pretty sweet. Bryz is the man. Time is yours. |

if you're gonna compare Vick and Mcnabb no doubt about it Donovan is 5 times the quarterback. I said they were dumb when they let him go to bring in Vick, even tho they gave a halfhearted look at Kolb. IF Donovan did what Vick did as a starter the past two years they would kill him. |

For many years before that, the Flyers simulcasted on TV and radio. That was why Gene Hart had a "radio" style when he was on TV.
I once had the pleasure of interviewing Mike Emrick about the hockey broadcasting business. He told me all sorts of things about what goes into the preparation for a game, dealing with demands of local vs. national bosses and the adjustments that have to be made to different commentator partners and the adjustments that are made when doing radio, TV, or simulcasting.
I learned more from that 20-odd minute interview than any I've ever done. I also gained a whole new level of respect for what a tough job broadcasting is. |

With the economy being the way it was the past few years people became infatuated with the criminal, no different than in the 30's. |

That was my only point.. I am an open sympathizer of D-McNabb.. I think he got a raw deal here, and coulda won a Super Bowl if he had better options than Pinkston, Trash, Mitchell and Lewis.
Hell he almost single-handedly got us back to the super bowl before our defense imploded against the Cards...
I have heard people blame him for that as well.. "He left too much time on the clock" 3:00 minutes? So you want him to score, but because he scored and didnt wait till the final seconds to do so, its his fault we lost. LOL.
Then again, I hate Eagles fans for their sheer ignorance and comical lack of knowledge towards the actual game. |

I look at NHL radio broadcasters as Artists.. its their job to comprehend what they are seeing, quickly translate it into words, and craft in a way that the listener can actually visualize whats happening.. Tough tough job in any sport, but particularly in hockey. |

I think against the cards that was his moment to shine, he had an open receiver who broke free on a deep out and missed. But there were other times when he got praised and criticized alike undeservedly. |

He also put up almost 400 yards and 3 tds...
We lost 25-32... Akers missed a 47yd field goal and an extra point. We were able to get back into FG range but need a TD... HOWEVER, if Akers hadnt missed the field goal and PAT, we would have been down 29-32... Again, it was #5 taking the brunt of it. |

Which is what Mcnabb always was. Inconsistent.
However, he was placed in a system that was not complimentary to his talents. He was never a good fit to run a west coast type of offense. It magnified his flaws, especially after he limited his running. |
