I don't think reconsidering fandom is necessary. All one has to do is for at least a season, not purchase merchandise and stay home or go out to a bar/restaurant to enjoy the game. At least put the money you would give the greedy owners into the pockets of the local businesses. - JoeRussomanno

I haven't purchased anything hockey related and have only been to 2 games since the last lockout. You can be sure if they do it again I wont even buy center ice any more. And the only reason I have that is because its a gift from my father every season.

I'm not the kind of fan the NHL is worried about, anyways. I'm a hockey guy, I'm not at risk to replace the NHL with another professional sports product. I don't buy that much merchandise, and I'm not a STH (not that they can go elsewhere for hockey, either).
What the NHL will worry about is losing more casual sports fans who watch multiple sports, and losing spotlight to other fall through winter leagues.

I bought one jersey, Richards, and that was at the Berlin farmer's market since the 90's. I like to collect t-shirts and sweatshirts, hats etc. but I'll be hardpressed to boycott if a lockout persists. I'll never stop watching the games unless they sink to cesspooldom like some of the other leagues. If I was a STH I would no doubt relinquish them for a year.
Most people forget about 9/11, except for once a year.
Most forget about the New Orleans floods.
Or any "TV" cases where a parent kills their child.
OJ.
On and on and on.
These are real human tragedies. If there is a lockout, it is simple human nature, IMO, that it will be forgotten fairly shortly thereafter. The fact that there are so many posters here, craving hockey, not that long after the last lockout proves my point (or at least I belive it does).
In fact, I believe revenues went up and up and up after the last lockout.
I am not informed on the lockout in any way shape or form. But if I had to guess, I would say 20 games.

People that say this kind of stuff just blow me away.
If you're a hockey fan, you're a hockey fan. Let alone a fan of a team.
Were you a Flyers fan after the season that must not be discussed?
Don't be a drama queen. If they lockout, they lockout. Once they play again, I don't know about you, but I'll be psyched. - Giroux_Is_God
I... apologize? I mean, I thought I was disputing the need for dramatic refusal of the sport (y'know, what with the next post saying I'm not an at risk demographic), but whatevs.

don't feel bad I see tons of misinterpretation and exaggeration on this board. Not just from our otherwise bright lad, GIG.
