I doubt either one of them will be as important to a team in the way the best defenseman in the league is. - JoeRussomanno
I think the Flyers truly believed that the Preds wouldnt match..
Speaking of the Preds matching.. they must be sick to their stomachs right now with this lockout looming... |

I also believed that to be the case. The Preds proved me wrong. |

they did but that's where they messed up and yes I believed the preds wouldn't match either, still think they tanked their franchise with that one. However the Flyers are more than capable of replacing what they would lose with Schenn or Couts through the draft itself. They should have pulled the trigger at the 11th hour. But hey i could be wrong, and Couts/Schenn could be the next Messier while LSchenn becomes the next Scott Stevens. I truly hope that happens. |

The "lockout" looming makes me feel less inclined about arguing hockey. |

It's obvious that the Flyers figured that Nashville wouldn't match. I would have been open to making a trade, as well. But that ship has sailed. Time to focus on what happens next |

Yea, no doubt, like I said, I'm hoping I'm wrong and that these younger guys will blossom into not just good players but elites at their respective positions. Imo a lot will hinge on if Lschenn can progress. I think the odds are in our favor but still a ways to go. |

If Luke Schenn can come close to what Adam Foote did-that's who he was projected to be like when drafted-the Flyers will have a valuble player. |

I'm just hoping we can get the puck out of the zone. But in all seriousness looks like the front office is forced to be patient for a change. |

At least -- as is the case with Ian Laperriere and Eric Lindros (for whom Johnsson was traded to the Flyers) -- he's been able to recover a good quality of life without the horrendous issues associated with lingering post-concussion syndrome.
I was working with a guy from Toronto a few months back that is very close with Eric Lindros. So close in fact that he was one of Eric's guests at the Alumni game. Showed me pics on his phone of them at this guys house and all because I didn't believe him. Anyway, he told me that Eric is really not doing that well as far as post concussion symptoms go. Some days he can't get out of bed. Eric was also kinda afraid to play in the alumni game because he gets dizzy spells often. |

Talk about a horrific past three months for Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland.
After losing half of his team's top four defensemen, Holland struck out swinging in his attempts to acquire both Ryan Suter (free agency) and Jay Bouwmeester (via trade) in order to shore up the Wings' core on the blueline.
Overnight, reports began filtering out that the Red Wings have made a two-year offer to free agent rearguard Carlo Colaiacovo in the range of $2.5 to 2.7 million per year.
so Flyers fans would you offer CC 2.7? seems to be a decent deal. do the Flyers have any interest? |

I'd consider it. But if the Flyers were truly interested, I think they'd have already signed CC by now. They may have at least a degree of interest.

CC is an absolute pretzel. He hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy. No sense in throwing money at a guy who can't stay on the ice.
At this point it's by in large a lost summer, whenever the season starts just start with the players who are currently on the roster, and assess needs at the trade deadline. That being said, throwing picks away for rentals is bad business. Only trade for relatively young players who are viewed as part of the future. |

65 games a year ain't bad. If that's what he gave the flyers this year it would go a long way to putting a band aid on the Mezaros injury. |

65 games average the last 3 years isn't terrible. Being this is likely to be a shortened season. His games played prior to the last 3 years are significantly less. Not sure if that is due to injury or not.
Spending close to 3 million per for him, seems like a waste to me. |

Boyle for 2nd and young prospect such as Manning, Gus, or Bourdon. Interested? I know many people don't want Boyle as he is getting older. |

Then he's probably looking to pay in water or ammunition. That is, if course, only if his trading partner doesn't just shoot him and take his stuff |

I'd do a 2nd and a guy like Testwuide or Harper for Boyle. He's still a good puck mover and PP quarterback |

As would I. Boyle would help this team out big time. |
