I understand people's views on it, but personally I like the team there. But that's just me be selfish. Much easier to get in and out of PHX from Vegas than LA is to me. - markyjoe
I hear ya. They need more folks like yourself. |

Random rant, but I was watching some '80s hockey on youtube today and oh my God...when the hell did the goalie pads get so big?? Players had so much more to shoot at. They need to shrink down the width (not the thickness). Make the goalies make saves, rather than just sitting there taking up space and having the puck hit them.
Anyone agree?? |

Goalies will tell you that they need to be protected from the one piece sticks and there is some merit to that. But I would say that the technology of hockey equipment is at a high level and they could still be protected and shrink the equipment. |

Absolutely. If they are even considering any changes to the game itself, I would rather see something like that, which maintains the integrity of the game rather than making nets bigger, etc.
I also wish they would go to Olympic-sized rinks, but there may be space limitations in the arenas that prohibit this. |

For your first point I agree. Making nets bigger not only skews the record books but think about the cost to the infrastructure at every local rink to make the change.
For your second point they could physically make it happen but the owners will never give up seats and the $ on such a gate driven league. In a perfect world I would want the NHL rink to be in between what it is now and the Olympic sized sheet. |

or making goals bigger would kill goaltending all together! Goalies are creatures of habbit. Making there net 2 - 5 inches wide throws things off completely!! Goalies angles would be different, knowing where the net is off your post would be harder cuz the nets bigger. So i disagree ....making the nets bigger would screw up the games too much
An olympic rink would kill physical play in the NHL ..... bigger rink would mean players like Semen would dominate more so then a getzlaf. The big powerforwards would be a thing of the past. |

Hell yeah on your angles point. I have screwed around in goal before and the one thing that keeps you successful, angles, angles, angles. |

Go back to wooden sticks and smaller pads.
Technology although being a great thing, can also be a bad thing. |

No touch icing
Call the penalties like they did after the lockout
call all dives
Allow players to leave the bench for brawls
three on three hockey for ot and eliminate the shootout
I'll hang up and listen |

Play till there's a winner and don't give me the travel bs.
MLB and the NBA have no problem getting flights at all hours of the day. |

To play devils advocate baseball is a lot of standing around and most basketball players only play hard for a quarter. |

Don't care.
They make millions of dollars. If they get less sleep so be it.
You play to win the game.
No more 3 point games. |

Sabres most definitely need an experienced center who can school the kids (our eldest center is, what, 22 years old?)...if it takes 7 mil to get it, I think it's still worth it. Without a mentor, G+G, Hodge and Ennis could end up as multiple versions of Derek Roy or even worse (ie. divas that never win anything but are very full of themselves).
Unfortunately Ruff's precious system will probably snuff out any creativity these kids have by December anyway. Maybe a blog about Lindy's methods and reputation as an offense-killer should be in order.

For the money Arnott would be a MUCH better option.
$30M for a 37/38 year old offers a LOT more downside than upside. |
