For the money Arnott would be a MUCH better option.

$30M for a 37/38 year old offers a LOT more downside than upside.

You could make the argument that Doan might be a player that could put Pittsburgh in a great chance to win, at least moreso than BUF at this stage and I still would never think about offering that deal, it's asinine.

Funny thing is Im not so sure Vanek would beat him out by much if they had a race.

Speaking of another $7+M contract I'd like to get away from....

If armia was ready I think that would make sense.

Armia could be ready but is currently in the military for 6 months. So why waste 1 of his ELC when he won't be hockey ready?

IF Doan comes here, do we 1) play him @ center, a la Leino, and fail miserably 2) Trade Vanek for a #1 center, and have nobody to feed the puck to 3) Put him with Ott and Kaleta and have the highest paid checking line in history.....

Like the Chewbaka Defense, it does not make sense.

I wish it was a joke, but look at the Lindy/Leino train wreck, and the Lindy/Boyes trainwreck, and the Lindy/ Ennis (reverse) train wreck. Our coach likes putting good players in positions to fail, and/or sucks the offense out of them. I pray that Ennis has a spectacular season at center, but if he or his linemates are not getting it done by December, he'll be playing wing on the 4th line.

And going after a 7 mil winger makes any sense when we obviously need an experienced center (see my last post)? It's either Doan on the dot or we STILL have to trade for a #1 center.
