Skepticism is one thing, to to flat out jump to 'hack' claims seems a bit much to me. If only that Delco scum Jak were here, this would be up his alley.

Hey, I re
present that!
Seriously though.. after reading the blogs that were posted Id say the guy did a fantastic, thorough job on the Meszy article. Only thing that I also would have posted (and did not see on his) was that each and every person responds differently to these things. Recovery is typically between 6-9 months.. although there have obviously been exceptions. I would also say that physical therapy is normally designed for the person, and not just a typical group of exercises.
As for Lilja, I think again he was pretty informative, but not very clear. There is NO WAY to get rid of OA. None. Once a person is diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, there is no way to reverse that or get rid of it. The claim that Glucosamine "rebuilds" cartilage is completely unfounded. There is no factual scientific proof of this, and studies that have been done have no shown reconstruction (despite some articles). HOWEVER, it has been shown to slow the degeneration, and help keep the cartilage healthy and strong.
The options for surgery would all help an underlying issue, but would not be a treatment of OA. For example:
If someone comes into the office with acute knee pain.. we take an xray and see that they have OA. We immediately know that there has to be something else going on... as OA doesnt show up over night. So say its a MMT (medial meniscus tear) we will go and treat that. Pain will likely go away immediately (outside of general soreness from surgery), but the OA is STILL THERE.
