It will be very interesting to see who will be the Flyers scapegoats this upcoming Season. Most of the top candidates are gone. - MJL
I think it will be Hartnell (i doubt he hits 35+goals again) and honestly, Luke Schenn. I think JvR is gonna have a very good season, so if Luke struggles, the same person who were singing praises that JVR was gone are gonna be flipping out. |

Schenn's not going to put up a lot of offense, so in the vein of guys like Therien, Luke Richardson, Hatcher, Rathje, etc, he could be skewered for every time he gets beat out there. But he's going to probably be the most physically menacing dman they've had since Hatcher, so that should win the fans over some.
JvR starting out of position (a la Leino), destined to be bumped down the lineup where he'd have middling linemates compared to his Flyers days, and under the yoke of a tough defense-first coach in Carlyle.... doesn't really bode well for an offensive breakout. The lone saving grace might be that he could put up some points on their PP, which wasn't that bad, but he's still just a 40-50 point player if he stays healthy, which has been a challenge for him. |

Will always be Bryz.
If the Flyers lose, by definition, the other goalie gave up less goals. Too easy for many to blame the goalie. |

Over his first 2 seasons he only missed 11 games. He had a rough and unfortunate year last year. But he also was still able to put up 24 points over 42 games while playing through various injuries.. I wouldnt be surprised to see him put up 30+ goals and 60+ points... |

So no "Bell-ringer" award for best fight?
Or "Lappy strikes back" award for those with the most brutal injury blocking a shot? Simmonds scoring off his face comes to mind. |

I personally want to see a "Lend a Hand" Trophy presented to the player who makes the biggest bonehead mistake during a game. The trophy gets its name from a certain clown-like player who decided to "Lend a hand" to the goalie by tossing his glove at a player on a breakaway. |

When Bill mentioned Thundermouth award... I immediately thought of JR... He's been retire for several years and still yapping. I know the award is more about tone, and I've never been in the same room as JR. But, I'd imagine that he could be hear a mile away.

I'll still never understand what exactly Scotty was thinking. Did he really think he could hit the puck out of the air? |

This is seriously fantastic!
Now we need to find candidates for these awards:
The Cote Award- The player who amasses the most black eyes through out the course of the season. I think the winner last year could repeat again this year... Wayne Simmonds
The Carter/Richards/JvR Memorial Award- Awarded to the player(s) traded after signing an extension. Player must fit certain criteria to receive this award.
The Upshall Trophy- Awarded to the player who, Irregardless of play, seems to continually be a fan favorite.
The Scotty Award- Named after Scotty Upshall and Hartnell. Awarded to the player who tends to be in the coaches dog house no matter what.
The Jones/Vandy Trophy- The opposite of the Scotty award. Players who no matter how horrid they play, seem to continually get ice time. - jak521
Cote: Sestito
Carter/Richards/JvR: Voracek or Simmonds (Valuable, yet expendable if the right deal comes along)
Upshall: Hartnell
Scotty: (Lavy doesn't let this be known as much as other coaches) Rinaldo (its more about bad penalties that he doesn't deserve)
Jones/Vandy: Coburn (he doesn't screw up much, but when he does it seems to get looked over)

My bets are on the Schenn BROTHERS. Luke probably more so than Brayden.
