As of right now, I look down the list of prospects and have a lot of optimism. There's a good mixture of talented and role forwards, along with some highly-touted young Dmen... not to mention the few (hopefully) up and coming goalies. The key is to see it translating into NHL play though. Hopefully, at least 50% of this prospect core can prove themselves and garner enough attention to get a shot at the big leagues it would be. It would be GREAT if they could start re-building the core of the D from within the system.

But we shall see I guess. At least it does offer some hope for the future, even if it is only preliminary and on paper right now.

I had thought Placek would be a solid sleeper pick, but he really hasn't done much at Harvard. Has he dealt with injuries? His stats have been underwhelming.

What's your thoughts on Nick Cousins pending legal issues? When it happened the reports stayed away from the details. Of course it's serious and terrible... But, I can't get a read on how bad it really is? Did he grab a waitress's a$$ at the bar, or did he plan out a rape in his white van with "free candy" spray painted on the side? Any speculation, whether he's going to get a slap on the wrist or jail time?

Played fourth line and missed over a month due to injuries last season. Also had injury issues his final year of prep school.

All there is a lot of secondhand rumor and still few verifiable facts, so I won't comment.

I know its early but what are the chances Valeri Vasiliev ever comes to North America to play, heard that he had no plans early on, but does he have any desire to play here or does want to stay in the KHL?

He has yet to play in the KHL -- he's still at the MHL (junior) level. If he comes over, it will be awhile. I assume, like most Russian players, he would only do it if he felt he would make the Flyers' NHL roster. In his ELC, he would want it to be at his discretion whether he accepted an AHL assignment or opted to go home for the season.

The three have been charged with sexually assaulting an adult female, who was known to them.

The alleged incident occurred Friday at a central-area residence in the city. Each player is accused of having sexual intercourse with the female.

We still have another month before the NCAA kicks off. I can't watch football to fill the time.

Nobody wants a lockout but it could benefit older players like Briere and Timonen. Does it benefit Pronger should he start feeling well today and from here on out? Would he play if he could put together a good couple of months?

Good months? Nope. Even if he was 100% symptom free with extreme workouts, I think we would still have a tough choice.

Many including myself have made the mistake of comparing Pronger's situation to Crosby's, when it might be more wise to compare Chris Pronger's situation to Scott Stevens. It is just a shame Lindros, Stevens and Savard were not thought of as highly as Crosby.

What would be different if they were? I am having trouble understanding your point.

As far as Pronger goes, I think people should be happy if he's able to carry on and lead a normal life at this point. I can't envision a scenario where he would risk his long term health to play again at his age and nor should he.

That looks like it hurt. Good thing the parents got the shot though, that's the important part.

I personally consider Pronger pretty much done.
