It'll be interesting to see if they use the AHL contract loophole to get MAB or Sestito to the Phantoms for the stoppage.
Amazing to me how many teams signed guys to long term, big money extensions yesterday, while crying poor. Like the money bleeding, league owned Coyotes signing a 36 year old to a 4 year, $21.2 mm deal. |

Both sides are acting like children. How they can't get an agreement settled is maddening. In reality they should have been talking everyday. If there are franchises losing money, move them to a profitable city.
Bettman can't be gone soon enough. |

The amount of CBA spin from players/agents/reporters in my twitter feed these days is becoming.... very tiresome. While social media has probably helped get more people in the players corner this time around, too much of this stuff will backfire at some point. $1.67 billion was spent on contracts after July 1? Would agents feel better if the league spent $0 on players since July 1? That number spent is meaningless without context. I'm haven't really picked a "side" in this thing, nor do I really want to/care to, but mind numbing spin like this apparently doesn't just belong to politicians. |

It is a joke, the fact that the NHLPA said they wanted to use the current CBA until a new one was established while the NHL scoffed at the idea, just shows the kind of people the owners/Bettman really are. Again its a joke, just crap |

The longer this goes the more pissed I am at both sides. Spoiled babies everywhere. And Eks tweets make him sound like a 3 yr old. |

I still favor the players, but at this point, I really don't care. I just want the NHL back.
I doubt players will shed any tears if I get my pay cut. I do agree with their point, though, but it's not that vital to me. |

the main thing i don't get is why bettman won't agree to keep playing under the old CBA while negotiations continue.
god forbid they should all keep making money and make the fans happy... |

Despite the expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the National Hockey League has been, and remains, committed to negotiating around the clock to reach a new CBA that is fair to the Players and to the 30 NHL teams.
Thanks to the conditions fostered by seven seasons under the previous CBA, competitive balance has created arguably the most meaningful regular season in pro sports; a different team has won the Stanley Cup every year; fans and sponsors have agreed the game is at its best, and the League has generated remarkable growth and momentum. While our last CBA negotiation resulted in a seismic change in the League's economic system, and produced corresponding on-ice benefits, our current negotiation is focused on a fairer and more sustainable division of revenues with the Players -- as well as other necessary adjustments consistent with the objectives of the economic system we developed jointly with the NHL Players' Association seven years ago. Those adjustments are attainable through sensible, focused negotiation -- not through rhetoric.
This is a time of year for all attention to be focused on the ice, not on a meeting room. The League, the Clubs and the Players all have a stake in resolving our bargaining issues appropriately and getting the puck dropped as soon as possible. We owe it to each other, to the game and, most of all, to the fans.

I favor those of us in the seats.
I sided with the owners in the past. I sides with the payers in the past. This time around, and from this point forward, I don't and won't give a rat's patootie about either of them.
Split the billions your fans have invested and get back to work. |

Speaking of us in the seats, the flyers have offered season ticket holders paying 2% simple interest or giving monthly refunds. I think I may opt for the refunds just to be putative. |

Lets flip things for a minute.
If three friends pool their money, let's say $100,000 each, and give the $300,000 for friend #4 to manage.
For his effort, friend #4 will get paid $25,000 per year. He also gets a bonus, subject to some kind of provisions. Also assume under all scenarios, everything is legal and ethical.
Are the members of this board, the hypothetical #1-#3 friends, expecting which of the following:
1) Friend #4 to maximize their profits in the business
2) Friend #4 to maximize his own profits
3) Friend #4 to maximize the customers happiness
4) Friend #4 to make a decent profit, put the customers mostly happy, and also hope Friend #4 is ok with his situation.
Most of you publicly may eschew #1, but privately that is your first option. If not, BTW, I am available to either invest your money or start a business.
Publicly, you voice that 3 is the best option.
Or publicly you may post a ridiculous GIF file.

With many of the kids sent back to juniors should make it an awesome year for each of those respective leagues as well. |
