If history is an indication of the future, all our d-men playing overseas will get hurt, and Pronger will not return.

Is it too late for me to learn to skate?

Yeah - I agree. We went through TV broadcasts with flashy color pucks, constant John LeClair reviews for his blade within 2 inches of a semi-circle around the goalie, clutching and grabbing of any Devils team, etc etc......into a pretty good product IMO.

What a waste.

I don't understand how people could just give up because of this. I can't envision me protesting because of a work stoppage and not watching. If it's something you enjoy doing, why would you not watch when play resumes?

I'm with you. I'm disappointed about not being able to watch hockey in October too, but I don't get the "I won't watch it ever again" backlash.

If the NHL started on time, I would even accept the NFL replacement officials to officiate the games.

I know we are spolied on Hockeybuzz with top notch referees, but the officiating in the NFL is horrendous.

Agreed. Seriously, 1 year or 2 years or whatever, it won't make a difference to me. I love the game itself, not the NHL itself necessarily. They do possess the Stanley Cup though, so they have that going for them.

I'm protesting right now. Won't watch any NHL hockey or pay for any NHL merch until the lockout's over.

It's time for the sheeple to WAKE UP.

Agreed, which is the reason that the NHL has zero fear of losing the fanbase over this lockout.

Bill Daly says the NHL gave the players "too good a deal" last lockout.

Personally, I will of course be back. With the same enthusiam as I usually have? Probably not. There is real sour feeling I am getting from this lockout, a lot more than the last time. However, I will be back, to cheer them on, even if its in a year.

I am 21 though. If this turns into some kind of pattern, a lockout every 7-10 years or so, they can go shove it where the sun dont shine. I have better things to do if these RICH people can't figure it out.

If the owners were really dead serious about wanting a new CBA and willing to go to a lockout they should have been meetings every damn day since June to get it figured out.

Its a DISGRACE to the sport. In the end I am a fan of the game, more than any team.

They do have it too good.

Imo no player should make more than 1-2 million in this day and age.

Nobody should, owners included in that.

Gary Bettman makes 8 million for what? Sitting in an office all day? Maybe reduce everyone's rediculous salaries and give it to charity. Then they will get my sympathy. A lockout for a guy making 500K a year. Or a layoff for a single dad making 30,000 a year. Wake up.

Here is the deal the teams are giving these contracts in the first place. Yes the players may ask for them but team aren't obligated to actually give it, the teams have shown they can't save themselves. And the funny thing is the teams don't seem to see what the problem is, the owners got everything they pretty much wanted in the last CBA now they say it isn't working well whose fault is that? They can't seem to see they need to find a better way to save themselves & the future of the league.

K.Bieksa to Globe: "The problem isn’t with us, making too much, it’s them overpaying guys and creating their own problems."

Mark Spector Sports ‏@SportsnetSpec

Bieksa: People say, 'Why can’t you be more like football or basketball?' ... Put more into the pie, and we’ll take 50-50.”

Mark Spector Sports ‏@SportsnetSpec

B.Daly: "I don't buy into the premise of owners needing to be protected from themselves." Seriously. He said that.

I think first and foremost the owners have to realise that they are part of a league. Having teams struggle financially is bad for the league. Whether that means moving them or revenue sharing, the owners have to realise it.

I am a huge supporter of parity. The salary cap itself isn't doing its job. You still have the big money teams with a lot more power than other teams. Parity itself will create success and generate more money. A person is much more likely to want to go see a game, or support a team that is doing well than a chronic basement dweller.

Imo what needs to happen is the cap be lowered substantially. That will mean that player salaries go down yes. The cap cannot also go up every damn year.

I would cut all player salaries by a certain percentage. No more rediculous mega deals.

From the owners standpoint they do have to increase revenue sharing, to not make the pay cut from the players so drastic.
