the marathon sessions will come after the breakthrough in negotiations. that breakthrough won't come without major concessions from one or both parties. don't see any concessions coming for another month or two at least. - DoubleDown
Agreed -- long sesions will be required to work out details once the parameters are set.
I disagree that it has to take a month or two to break through on the major issues. Unlike last time, there aren't any structural issues at play. It really is just about a number and at some point hopefully in 3 or 4 weeks, both sides will have an internal consensus on a number that they can live with and narrow the gap |
|
|
|
Both sides need to decide amongst themselves that they are willing to actually negotiate first.
meeting just for the sake of meeting when neither side wants to budge is nothing but posturing aswell. - Oilhab

They should have something new to say if they are trying to get back as quick as possible. Which clearly they are not. Cause both sides don't give a (frank) and won't change there proposals and make a fair deal for both sides. - NickA
Exactly, so let them sit there and play their little games on twitter, i'm canceling my tickets for this year no matter when they decide. |

Exactly. I admire his optimism but it would be nice if he added some realism as well. |

it's worthless if the want to change isn't there
Just talking and listening to the other side only talk about what they want can lead to a wider gap. |

BIIIG difference between "the want" and " THE NEED" for change.
Both know what's at stake. |

Good on you! Thats what these greedy (frank)s deserve...I can only hope this pissing contest will cost them if they don't shape up and get something done. But it will be hard cause we all love hockey and enjoy the game at its highest level. Just wish there was renegade league started by some new billionaires. |

Unfollow the losers on twitter. The players, teams, HOckey Pundits....It's rather refreshing and maybe they'll get the hint when their blasting tweets out to 6 people compared to their normal 35,000....Maybe when this is over they'll be followed again.....maybe |

There is no urgency at the moment by either side to make the fist real compromise that will allow serious discussions to take place. |

Ok so i am still trying to REALLY understand this whole thing.
The Players currently get 57% of the sales? Right? They got that in the last settlement? The owners what that reduced? Right so far?
Teams are losing money left and right. Owner are claiming to be poor yet sign 100 million dollar contracts for 10 years to some. The Wild are one of the teams losing money, right? it seems the owners cant police them selves. So, if the players Give a ltiie to help teams like Phoenix, Tampa and others like my Blues , why cant they work it out?
its for the better of the game. UNLESS you want to retract teams, not a bad idea either.
thoughts? Bueller? |

they damn well better be....this posturing is such ridiculous nonsense.
they try and complicate it to no end, but it really is as simple a negotiation as two kids in a school yard.
the fans can see thru this crap, surely both sides can see how silly this is.... |
