You think the NHL is afraid of public opinion?
They proved they don't care by locking out the players for a full season not long ago. And won't hesitate to do the same again. - Pecafan Fan
We should just stop caring about the NHL...to tell you the truth I'm not far from reaching that point...

I don't know...this seems like it is turning out to be a long haul...nobody is trying to get in a room and have meaningful discussions. If you keep saying "black" and the opposition keeps saying "white" and neither is willing to flinch to get into the "gray" area then we will be here for a while...unfortunately.
For me I intend to refrain from buying any tickets or merchandise for the entire season...however if they do come to a deal, I will watch on TV. |

Pray for some flexibility on the players' behalf. Regardless of how justified they are, they can't escape the logic of a lost season vs. a couple of lost points on the revenue scale. This lockout was not their choice, but it's the boat they're sailing in right now. No one's asking them to jump ship, but they owe it to us, to each other, and the NHL owes it to us to start working on a deal that would avoid everyone sinking.
how are they justified? 57% of revenues is beyond ridiculous. for them to smart at a 50-50 split shows they're every bit as greedy and pigheaded as they accuse the owners of being. and please, they players absolutely chose this lockout. this is a joint venture. the players knew it was coming. they chose to do NOTHING in lead up. this is the price of their posturing.
and i think you're twisting Bettman's words. when he was crowing about the $3.3 billion revenues, he wasn't bragging about how much of it went into the owners' pockets and how much more was going into the players' pockets. if anything, crowing about increased revenue is an argument that the percentages must be balanced out. |

But our influence is beyond minimal. They don't give a single (frank) of what we say because they know we'll be ready to pay 15% yearly increase on ticket prices.
Remember when they said the fans would be the winners in the long-run after the 2004-2005 lockout?
To quote a familiar blogger, it was an outright lie. |

If no one including reporters showed up for the Home opener, maybe they would take notice. But we all know the lineup to get in will be around the block. |

If the players bend, something may happen.
I don't see them bending with Mr. Fehr at the wheel.
We'll see, come December, IMO. - pete26
Bettman and Fehr won't move, unless the players change their stance....this season is as good as gone. |

I don't go to a lot of live habs games.
So for me, I'll invest that money in junior hockey instead. Already did that last season. Went to the Bell Center only twice and saw around 10-12 junior games instead. |
