Not true BradleyC4. He can be loaned to the Phantoms without having to clear waivers and play on his current contract which is still a two way deal until next season.

Really? Could have sworn he was in the same situation as Keith Aulie in Tampa.

It's obvious that the pure, unbridled joy of being able to cast unlimited votes for Bryzgalov as the Flyers all-time best goalie has you a bit off your game today.

No, he'll be playing with the Phantoms under his current NHL deal. The same way that Couturier, Schenn, Gustafsson, and Rinaldo will. Bourdon meets the AHL requirements to play there during the lockout.

So does this count as a year under their entry level deals? I thought a 2 way contract ate up a year of the players contract regardless of what level they play

He'd have to clear waivers to play for the Phantoms under his current NHL deal.

He can sign a temporary AHL-only contract with the Phantoms in the interim.

thats what I thought would have to happen, im really confused now lol

He does not have to clear waivers or sign a temporary AHL-only contract to play with the Phantoms. He is eligible to play for the Phantoms during the lockout under his existing contract due to being on a 2 way contract and was on the AHL clear list last year.

I'll have to give that some thought and think about one.

Thought about it. For players such as Schenn, Couturier who on EL deals, yes it absolutely will count as a year under their EL deals. As they are playing Pro Hockey and not with Junior teams, under the rules of the old CBA.
But keep in mind that technically right now, there is no CBA. And who knows what rule changes will be made in the new CBA that might change how this Season is counted for each player in the case of the entire Season being cancelled.

I will blog about it tomorrow. Didn't want to try to influence any votes for the second spot.

Hexy is running away with the second spot, and I'm not at all surprised. He had the longer career because of Pelle's untimely death. Hwas a Flyer more recently than Pelle, so more voters saw him play. Hexy also revolutionized his position with his puckhandling. Hextall's rookie season was one of the best ever by an NHL goalie.

With all that said, Pelle Lindbergh was the better goalie of the two, and it wasn't even all THAT close. Everyone knew Lindbergh had elite goaltender potential from the get-go, and he fulfilled it. Hexy's huge rookie year was a bit of a surprise, and he never played to that level again for a variety of reasons.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge Ron Hextall fan. But Lindbergh was well on his way to being equal or better to Bernie -- he was already the best goalie in the NHL and was still improving when the accident happened.
