Backes, D. Brown, C Perry, Ovy, R Nash, R Getzlaf, R Clowe, J Iginla, N Horton, M. Lucic, J Neal, J Benn, and soon to be Flyer B. Ryan?
Maybe.... - Daman
I'd take him over a couple of those guys. Some of them are a coin flip and a couple are clearly better players.
Some of those guys aren't LWs, some are centers and some are RWs. There's 120+ LWs in the NHL, close to 400 forwards. If you can pop him in that mix that's a pretty impressive list of players.

Agree again. And clearly you said ONE of the top Power Forwards in the League, not the top power forward in the League. Last Season Hartnell was tied for 6th overall in the League in goals. He was 2nd overall in the League in PP goals. While racking up 136 PIMS. That puts him right there.
R. Leach
B. Barber
T. Kerr
B. Propp
J. LeClair
M. Recchi
S. Gagne - Pixote Andolini
I would agree with this but flip barber and leach,
Leclair and propp, and add tocchet over gagne.
Barber had the longest tenure and was a C (briefly)
Leclair had 3 straight 50 goal seasons (Kerr had 4)
And I'd say tocchet was more of an impact player than gagne
By a nose.
Helluva group.
Dornhoefer was closer to knuble than tocchet in terms of
Production and style, I'd say
I liked Gagne but I dont get all the love for him. He was injured a ton and his carreer stats dont match up to Tochetts. He had the two big 40 plus goal seasons but was pretty sporadic after that. - Stinkfitz
Gagne never took a poop on the fans when he got traded to Tampa, like Tocchet did when he was traded to the Pens.
Gagne had as many 40 goal seasons as Tocchet did as a Flyer, and also as many 30+ goal seasons.
As Flyers:
Gagne 664 games 259 G, 265 A 524 Pts
Tocchet 621 games 232 G, 276 A, 508 Pts
Let's not ignore that Tocchet played in a higher scoring era than Gagne. I'd also like to say that I'm not a huge Simon Gagne fan. Never was. I'm not one of those who was upset when he was traded, nor did I long for him to return.
In terms of player, I prefer what Tocchet did, but I feel Gagne was more impactful and a better fit stylistically for the other choices I made.

My seven choices were Barber, Propp, Kerr, LeClair, Recchi, Leach and Tocchet. I also considered Gagne, Renberg, Sinisalo and Murray Craven (the latter two are severely underrated).

Can I ask why you gave little consideration to Dornhoefer? He seems to be a forgotten man.
All honesty, top three were easy in Barber, Kerr, and LeClair.
Imagine if Kerr wasn't so beat up and injured all the time? - KGBflyers10
Everyone is entitled to pick whoever they choose. But Brian Propp is not in the top 3? Propp was the second best Winger ever to play for the Flyers next to Bill Barber.

I wonder if folks who disliked his colour commentary on the radio hold that against him. 'Twould be silly, if so.
Dorny was a nice player. But he's no where near the player that the top 7 or 8 in that list were. - MJL
You know, even with the high scoring 80's and 90's behind us and a healthy share of talent passing through the corridors of the Spectrum and the Center old Dorney's still the 11th leading scorer in franchise history. I'm not saying that he's HHOF material nor did I even select him as one of my choices but to say he's "nowhere near the player" is a bit of an exaggeration. Only 13 players have scored more than 200 goals in their flyers sweaters and he's one of them.
I certainly gave him some consideration and I was shocked at the lack of votes he had garnered. I thought maybe it was because he retired so long ago and it was skewed to the age of the respondents. It does seem like he's been left behind.
Also, just a note on Hexy's career. I believe he was an All Star selection in the 1987-88 season and he was one of the backups to Fuhr at the Canada Cup in 1987. - Hextall271
The finals were three of the most exciting games I've ever seen!

I don't see it as an exagerration at all. We'll eliminate Clarke as he is a HOF, so was Barber. Reggie Leach scored 61 goals in a Season, as well as having a 50 goal Season. Propp was the 2nd best Winger in team history. Had 4 Seasons of 40 goals or more, and 4 90 point or better Seasons. As well as numerous 70+ point Seasons. And was dam close to being a point per game for his career and scored over a 1000 points in that career. Mark Recchi had 2 100 point Seasons and holds the Flyers record of 123 points in a Season. As well as scoring 50 goals in a Season as a Flyer. Rick Tocchet had 2 40+ goal Seasons as well as a number of 70+ Seasons as a Flyer, including a 96 point Season. Kerr had 4 50 goal Seasons as well as a 48 goal Season as a Flyer. And 5 Seasons of 80 or more points. LeCLair had 3 50 goals Seasons, and 2 40 goal Seasons. And 5 Seasons of 70 or more points including 2 97 point Seasons. Gagne had 2 40 plus goal Seasons, and 3 Seasons of 60 or more points.
Dornhoefer reached the 30 goal mark once and bested 60 points twice. He was a fine player. And I'm a Dornhoefer fan. But the only player he was close to in terms of production was Gagne. And that had a lot to do with injuries. The other players, it's not close. And that's not an exaggeration.

FWIW, Tocchet was my 8th pick. It did boil down to him & Gagne for me.
