I dont discount the athletic ability of guys from different eras. Put them in a more more moderen era with the same training, equipment, training norms of that era's peers, they may very well be as good or even better than their established performance dictates.

I dont believe the moderen athelete is automatically better because they are bigger et al

not automatically ... but a good bet that he is.

give me a 5' 9", 175 pound great player from 50 years ago, and give me a 6'4" 230 pound great player from the last 10 years ... and I'm betting the 6' 4" guy will win most of those battles.

These moronic battles over whether Eddie Shore or Cyclone Taylor could handle Eric Lindros really make me hate Gary Bettman, Bill Daly and the Fehr brothers even more than I did before reading the past postings in this thread.
