The Sabres have a payment option called "Sabres Direct", where they spread out the payments once a month up until January or Feburary, and take the money directly out of your checking account. As long as you have signed up for it before the season starts, you get your tickets. Well, I'm not signing up for anything until there are games to pay for. Aside from the balance on our account from paying for the first two rounds and them not making the playoffs last year, they don't have a penny from me yet.

Just what would 10,000 Smashville points get you?

Are we talking good stuff, or does that get you a key chain?

Eklund: Are you an NHL Season Ticket Holder? What's Your Team Doing w/ Your Money?
- Eklund

Been a Flames Season Ticket holder for 16 years. Tickets(3 seats) cost over $15K, I have paid for the season & Flames are holding my money. They have advised us that we have some options, 1st is they will be crediting our account as games get cancelled at the end of each month. They will pay us 3.0% interest on our money as games get cancelled & will continue to pay the 3.0% for the credit as we accumulate it. It is their intention to apply the credit to next season. 2/ You can request a cheque be issued for the refund as games get cancelled and mailed back to you with the 3.0% to that date. That is the option I have taken. The third option they are being real wieners about. You can request a full refund for the whole season but you will lose your rights to those seats I have foolishly donated lots of $$$$ for during the last how many years.

I refuse to leave a credit so they have my money indefinitely. They should be really worried if I continue to keep the season tickets. I can & will always be a fan of our City's hockey team, but I am so disgusted over this, I really dont want to donate another nickel for either cause. I have not heard either side show a desire to reduce these ticket prices & make going to hockey games more affordable during these tough economic times. These guys are really playing with fire.

Yeah i dont like carrying credits over as well. So when I have playoff $$ left over from the year before I always go payment plan the next year, then they just apply it to balance.

Hey Ek, how about you follow up on just one of the half dozen headlines you posted previously and ended (I use this term even though a story must have a beginning and middle to have an end and most were only one sentence) with "more to come"!!!!!!

At least this topic is somewhat interesting and conversational!

The Bruins are giving us 2 options:

1. Loyalty option: Price freeze for next season (like they're going to raise prices after a lockout, but I digress...) and 3% interest on our account if we leave our money in.

2. Refund: On a monthly basis, we get our money back +1% interest. If more games are played this year than they refund, we owe it back if we want to keep our tix. We lose our money if we bail if they play and we don't pay.

If he was the leading scorer of the WNBA, I would care more about this latest development...

It was sarcasm, I don't really care about Formula 1 racing. I'm just entertaining myself in another quality post by his holyness.

The only thing I can think of in retaliation is to never ever spend a penny on the consessions or crap they sell in their building ever again - even though they give me a 10% discount for being a season ticket holder.

From the Leafs:

Dear A. Tom McWedgie,

Thank you for renewing your Season Seats for the 2012-2013 season and for your continued support of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

As a Season Seat Holder, you are an integral part of the Toronto Maple Leafs team, and your loyalty is appreciated. You are likely aware that the current NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement expires September 15th, 2012. Though all efforts are focused on reaching an agreement, as a Season Seat Holder, you will have two options available in the event that games are cancelled. Whether you choose the Loyalty Program or Monthly Refund Option, you will not pay for games that are not played.....................

I would also like to add that I posted this a month ago, and Mike in Buffalo completely ripped it off and made it into a blog, without crediting or even thanking me.

My lawyers have advised me to sue, but I'm first willing to see if we can settle out of court.

A HockeyBuzz toque would go a long way towards mending this fence...

- Atomic Wedgie

So there was nothing in the fineprint of the agreement that YOU agreed to that granted MLSE certain rights and privileges "in the event of...?"

While your lawyers might have advised you to sue, I'm pretty sure that MLSE's ENTIRE FIRM OF LAWYER'S (along with the other 29 franchise's around the league) have covered their asses every which way on this.

With all due respect. Save your time, effort, lawyer's fees and quite possibly your tickets.

The Flyers have offered 2 options:

1) Earn 2% interest on money held for games not played.

2) request refund for games not played.

I had to request a refund due to the fact that I have to refund money back to family and friends that have already paid me for their choice of games.

I think you missed the joke.

I would agree, though, that suing over season ticket money is a fool's errand.

They started collecting money during the summer. With a 99% renewal , do you actually think they are making only 2% on investments, totaling millions
- Puck13

The rate of return that owners are getting is irrelevant - it's what they're offering to you to keep your season ticket money that's important. Besides, when they offer credits instead of actual cash interest, they're really just lopping cream off their profit pool [those credits typically get applied toward merchandise, tickets at other events, whatever]. They're not really out current money, they simply take on a liability that they're banking on some percentage of people never cashing in [and some percentage won't].

If the return being offered to you > the return you'd get from plunking that money elsewhere [actually putting it into the bank, paying off debts] then you're better off leaving that money with them. Otherwise, you need to decide whether you're OK with taking your money back and losing your spot in the season ticket pool. This is a very simple way of looking at things, and doesn't factor in things like "I need that money to stay afloat on just day-to-day things" or other things that may affect you personally [unexpected expenses is a prime example], but it should get the general idea across.

Um, excuse me, but we're still benefiting from the luxurious benefits of our season tickets. The NHL may be locked out, but Hockeybuzz season is still geared up to go!

Stopped taking payments on the 9-payment or 7-payment plans when lockout began.
Offered either 2% monthly interest (should be a Leafs STH) on what you've paid so far or month by month refunds of money for games not played by 15th of following month. I'll get my first refund (for Sept preseason games) 10/15. Interestingly, Flyers STH get a discount off face for their tickets, which amounts to more than the value of preseason. I've never felt like I was really paying for preseason, so I'm kind of being refunded money for games I never really consider I'm paying for anyway.

I choose to leave my money with the team but I am beginning to regret that. I am assuming that the whole season will be lost and next year most of my season will already be paid for so it's all good. The problem is will they freeze ticket prices next season or raise them and wipe out the interest credit accrued? I think there should be a 10% roll back on all season ticket prices to apologize for the delayed/lost season and prices should be fixed for 2-3 years.

Sorry if my comments offend you Mr. Eklund as you seem to be doubling as an apologist for Bettman and the rest of clowns most commonly known as NHL owners and players, but it simply must be said:

FU Donald Fehr
FU NHL owners
FU NHLPA
