Employees of any successful business should not be making more than 50% of the revenue. Although, in the entertainment industry it differs a lot from the rest of the industries, due to the fact, that they are indeed the product you are trying to sell. Still something is not right, and we shall be waiting here discussing nothing game related until the owners get closer to what they want, and that is pretty much where we will all be many months from now...

Agreed. IMO, both sides are to blame for this, but the players are being more dishonest than the owners. At least the owners don't hide the fact that they're only in it for the money (profits). The players are coming off as giving a poop about the fans, but at the same time won't budge off their 57%.

My guess as to why the NHL is doing this...(and to not try and oversimplify it), but there are 5-8 teams that are near bankruptcy, and rising costs are not allowing for the economics in those particular markets to work (even with revenue sharing). This is Bettman and the NHLs last ditch effort to make these markets work.

Pretty sure we already established how successful the owners can be without the players and vice versa.

This will be just like the cap, the owners are not going to budge until the players agree to about 47% or less. And yeah, even as a fan i believe that is fair for the owners, considering their operation costs and the hikes that go with it. However, i still see the players point of view, if any of our bosses told us they wanted to decrease our wages by 24% ( or whatever it was) we'd tell them to go (frank) themselves too. Either way they are both being greedy, and the only losers are the fans.

Explain how this is nonsense? The prices of EVERYTHING has gone up over the past 4-5years. Just look at the cost of living for yourself. I don't know about you, but my hydro, gas, groceries, etc. have all increased by about 25% (easily)

You are confused. Particularly with the issues of this lockout, and the owners perspective.

Can't wait till the owners finally get their workable business model, then next UFA period watch as a bunch of players say hey, give me a contract for a trillion dollars, and they owners say sure, that sounds chocolatey, here you go!

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, may want to base it off something more reasonable though. Just a thought.

Owners keep making the same mistakes. Canceled a season because they just couldn't do it anymore and needed a salary cap. They got it. The world was perfect for them. Then they signed all the contracts they want to get rid of or roll back and they expect the players to take the hit.

Are you saying you've never renewed a contract where you've looked for more favourable terms?

You'll see. That's going to be something the NHL bends on and gives to the players. They'll be grandfathered.

Are you saying that when you signed a contract and then demands they give back 25%? Twice? In less than 8 years?

The players don't have to accept it. No one is forcing them to sign a new CBA. But the owners are well within their right to re-negotiate an EXPIRED contract....just like you'd be able to...

The minute an agreement is reached on revenue percentage is the same minute this lockout is over.
