You'll see. That's going to be something the NHL bends on and gives to the players. They'll be grandfathered. - Pen15
How exactly do you grandfather a rollback? |

Like I said, look it up. Most company boards are structured like that...and thats PUBLIC companies. The NHL BOG is a private enterprise. |

There will be no rollback on existing player contracts. Sorry for the confusion.
One of two things will happen:
1) existing contracts will be grandfathered under the new cba
2) existing contracts will be paid out in full, and the player will become a UFA.
EDIT: This is a minor issue. Revenue sharing (b/w owners + players) will be the deciding factor imo. |

The players don't have to accept it. No one is forcing them to sign a new CBA. But the owners are well within their right to re-negotiate an EXPIRED contract....just like you'd be able to... - Pen15
They're not negociating, that's the problem. |

The minute an agreement is reached on revenue percentage is the same minute this lockout is over. - Pen15
And the owners have said they will not talk until the players agree to the rollback. Thanks for playing. |

The Fehr brothers are meeting with Daley & Bettman almost daily. Just because they're not setting FORMAL meetings, doesn't mean they're not negotiating.
I'm willing to bet anything that a resolution to this lockout will come through the 4 of those guys negotiating privately in a room, than the media circus of submitting formal offers. |

And the players said they might put the salary cap question back on the table...doesn't mean they actually will. |

Until they talk about the core issues nothing gets resolved. Unlit the owners get more realistic nothing gets done. |

My guess is they are talking the core issues...and they're doing it daily.
And your on crack if you think having players take 57% of all revenues is reasonable. There is NO OTHER BUSINESS ON THIS PLANET that operates that way. And you better believe its about to be fixed. |

You think so? Even though both admit that isn't happening? Even though they "meet" for 20 mins a day?

Outside of working in the industry and having intricate knowledge of it? Yes. But it's all for public record for individuals such as yourself to read up on. Not private enterprise though...those companies don't have to release those kinds of details to the public. I guess the NHL is cutting edge compared to their true true peers. |

They've been reported meeting for half and full days. And it's media tactic that both are practicing. NOTHING the media reports on the matter will result in positivity....that will only help grow animosity and will cause problems in the board room given the egos at play. |

And is there any other business on this planet, outside of sports, that drafts it's employees and denies them the freedom to switch jobs and go to a rival company?
Sports, and hockey, are unique. Dont be comparing to other businesses. |
