I know the guy a little, met him a few times a few years ago, he had a condo unit in my building on our floor. I don't think he will win the next election, most likely a minority Cons government again but he will be a serious contender for the election after. People will want to see him and listen to what he has to say, he will need a lot more media exposure to be taken seriously by many. Only way the Liberals take the power is if the NDP isn't drawing a good % of the votes, the left/left-center is divided by 2 strong parties when the Cons are alone on the right. - Symba007
I hope he wins the leadership. Yea should be interesting and he would be good for PQ as PM. |

Can he speak french? - ShootingSemin
yes, good French, he is perfectly bilingual, was raised in a political environment, he understands the game very well. I can honestly see him taking power eventually, he has the charisma to draw his fair share of votes, he will get support form the young crowd, important votes that are hard to get to vote. |

exactly....and his father was popular with the 18-30yrs old voters, not an easy crowd to get to vote, like his father, I think he will get those people to vote. He is 40yrs old, he represent changes, out with the old guard that most people don't trust anymore.
He is not super popular in Qc though, legacy of his dad (long knife night), he will have to overcome that. |

So he'll get people who voted already to vote? The power.
But seriously I don't think it really matters that he is young, that he'll get the younger votes. Besides if you look at Trudeau sr. he won the election because he dominated ON and QC. And since Jack is gone most people who voted NDP last time will go back to voting Liberal. |

The Liberals better take the NDP seriously, even though Jack is gone, they are still popular. Liberals are still a mess. |

Unfortunately, people expect the government to do a lot for them, people have become dependent of government programs. Ideally the government would run surplus and pay the debt that is still brutal. The more promises you make, the more you spend. Can't get elected by telling the truth, you have to promise the moon. |

Only thing that keeps them even in the running is the fact most people are terrified about giving Harper anymore (frank)ing power than he already has. Their party has been a (frank)ing mess for ages. |

Quebec is a very 'trendy' voting area. During the last federal election it was JACK! JACK! JACK! not NDP people cared about but it he is why they dominated here. When the CAQ form in all the polls they were getting 35-40% of the popular vote but they cooled off. Put Trudeau in I'm sure people here will vote for him no matter what.
But what do I know? |

Didn't see her much, she was often in MTL where she worked. His condo was a 2nd home in Ottawa when Parliament sits. Must MP's have a place in town, some rent, some buy a place, they get an allocation for a place to stay. |
