I've heard many, in fact way more, reasonable offers coming from people who aren't part of the NHL or the NHLPA. Your suggestion makes a ton of sense. I don't think the players are making a deal until they have to and the owners are just waiting for that.

Leaking the offer before the meeting is a wise move. Sure puts the players under a lot of pressure.

A condensed schedule would make backup goalies crucial, which would be great news for teams like the Leafs who have two.

We still don;t know the whole offer so it's all speculation right now.

what if it starts at 50-50 and ends at 57-43 for the owners? then this "offer" is a non-starter and we'll be further away than ever, because that's a sleazy move by the NHL. only way this deal generates traction is if it's not on a downward scale.

They're just (frank)ing with all of you.

you have to think that there's more to this deal. like the elimination of guaranteed contracts or UFA back to 31 or something. can't see the NHL taking this big a step.
